Waubonsee to host Veterans Day events

"Through the Eyes of Veterans: Images and Stories of Vietnam" will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Multi-Purpose Room on the Aurora downtown campus, 18 S. River St.

    Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove will host two events in conjunction with Veterans Day this year. The first event is called, "Through the Eyes of Veterans: Images and Stories of Vietnam." Jim Davidson of North Aurora was an infantryman and helicopter door gunner in 1968 and 1969 in Vietnam.

Car broken into

An suv parked in the driveway in front of my boyfriends house was broken into last night. No sign of forced entry. Items and money both stolen. He lives in northeast part of Naperville. Has anyone else had this happen?

First Fridays in October: Cemeteries, ceramics, and celebrations

Waubonsee Community College opens "Students Ceramic Exhibit," an exhibition of ceramics by students in the Waubonsee Community College Ceramics Club, at the Aurora Downtown campus library location, 18 S. River St. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"Going in Style - The Art of Cemeteries," a photo exhibit of curious, quaint, and quirky tombstones from the Midwest is up from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Santori Public Library, 101 S. River St. The exhibit highlights photos by Robb Winder and Randy Benzie.

Family Counseling Service, 70 S. River St., invites First Fridays patrons to "Leaf Your Stress Behind" with massage therapy, art therapy, relaxing prizes to win, Cassie the Therapy Dog, yoga, tasty fall treats, and more. 6 to 9 p.m.

Northwest suburban police blotter

• A white male in his 50s was seen loading a disassembled stainless steel surgical table and aluminum shelving into a SUV or wagon around 7:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at Wright Animal Hospital, 265 S. River Road. Value was estimated at $1,800.

Tyree J. Marshall, 24, of the 5300 block of South Princeton Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 10:15 a.m. Aug. 12 at the Rolling Meadows Court House, 2121 Euclid Ave., and charged with residential burglary. Court date is Oct. 12.

• Thieves stole laundry around 3:38 p.m. Sept. 19 in a Laundromat on the 2000 block of Irving Park Road.
