Hi friends...we are thinking about moving from over the river to south of the river....seems like a great - upcoming area. A new Marriott Marquis just went up, a Hilton is in process - and I hope that a grocery, walgreens, etc. are on their way.

Any hints or pointers those of you who live in the area can offer. We don't have a car....so, public transit, walking are our primary modes of getting around....

Ignore these scam artists!

I'm sure a lot of you here have had somebody knock on your door from Direct Energy or some other utility 'representative'. I'm tired of these guys knocking on my door and asking to see a copy of my utility bill. They are a scam company and a quick google search will show you that. I snapped a photo of this clowns ID so you can know NOT to speak to him when he knocks on your door. I hate to do it but I might have put up a 'No Soliciting' sign on my door since these guys seem to show up once every month or two.

  • Okay - I get it. Calling 311 or 911 would not be appropriate. Thank you.

  • Report it at your next CAPS meeting or they have a form on the CPD website where you can report it.

Dozens of Seniors Ask CTA to Extend Wentworth, 31st Bus Routes' Hours
Currently the routes, which older residents say are important for their mobility, only run on weekdays. Last Wednesday the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community and the Bronzeville-based Lugenia Burns Hope Center brought two busloads of seniors downtown to the monthly CTA board meeting to advocate for extending the #24 Wentworth and #31 31st Street bus routes' service to include weekends.

Some ignorant creature called "Chance the Rapper" was making an as* out of himself at City Council meeting.

This low as the get rap "singer" presents himself as some great leader in the field of education, though his behavior strongly suggest that he:

Can't play an instrument
Can't read music
Maybe can't read himself as he's an ignorant dumb as*.

What can we middle age Chicagoans do to promote some positive soulful popular music such was the norm in the 1970s with music like Motown, R&B, Soul, Chicago Blues. I even liked a lot of Disco like Donna Summers and I sadly note that today's youth music is not in any way couples' dance music. When did it become reality that American youth, including Black African American youth doesn't know how to dance? I did hear that there is a small "step dancing" community, I hope it includes some young people. When is this terrible rap music plague going to finally end? It's gone on longer than the Bubonic Plague Black Death lasted in Europe!

jaye els........UGH. . I go with the flow. Good music is still good music. If I like it, I listen. I am NOT my grandmother. Times, like music has changed. All the people you mentioned paved the way for those today. yeah learn to accept it or not. Up to do. Have a nice Thanksgiving. And be thankful we live where we do, for we have a choices.

Have a nice Thanksgiving2 emj1900 and everyone else who made comments here. Let's try to work for decent things in our Chicago city and I would include working for decent positive music for our young people. Yes, of course people have different tastes in music, musical tastes change. I think they often change for the worse, but maybe they will soon change for the better.

Carpet & Upholstery - Great Job!

Yesterday in preparation for the Holidays we had our carpet cleaned by Double A Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. He did an excellent job without the truck, hoses, water and mess that we have experienced with other Carpet Cleaners. The icing on this cake was that the carpet dried in 2 hours, is clean and fresh with all natural products and amazingly reasonable. This is a family owned business and the owner Darrell is a local resident. His # is 773-895-9424.
