Carpet Cleaning Recommendations Needed, Cat Urine Stain

Hi all,

My cat (the one in my profile photo) has been peeing on my low pile carpet and the staining is present on the reverse/bottom side. The carpet is 6ft by 5ft 9in. I'm not sure of the material, but I'm guessing synthetic. I'm a renter, but the carpet was bought by the previous tenant, so it's technically mine. I'd rather get the carpet professionally cleaned than have to buy a new one. I don't care if the color...

I don't care if the color changes, I just need a way to protect the wood floors and get the odor removed. I've already tried cleaning it by hand, but given the heavy staining on the reverse/bottom size, I'm concerned it'll eventually disintegrate and maybe stain the wood flooring.

Can someone please recommend an inexpensive place to get my small low pile carpet professionally cleaned in Edgewater? Can I take it to a regular dry cleaner or no? This is my first time having to do this.

Thanks!

(My cat is medically fine. He's recently been to the vet.)

  • Mute Mute Me

Its not fair to other responsible renters with cats to not fix this behavior issue. Can u put the box where the cat is peeing? Have you tried different litters? Are you using two litterboxes for one cat? Cleaning twice a day? Tried feliway diffusers. Ive only had two cats in my adult life and both went outside the box til i prompltly investigated and the problem was fixable.sometimes removing the rug fixes the problem.

  • Cats pee outside the box for different reasons. Perhaps he or she has a medical issue or you may not be keeping it clean. I’d take your cat to the vet. This isn’t normal vevahoir and needs to be addressed in addition to cleaning the stain which hopefully is your bigger concern.

Saturday Apartment Search

A friend has a job interview this Friday that might mean he could be looking for an apartment Saturday but he is unsure of his schedule. Do you know landlords or apartment brokers that take walk-ins on Saturdays?

  • My new landlord probably would. Call 773.507.9668. They have several buildings in Rogers Park and Edgewater. They may all be 2 bedroom though.

  • You can also try my landlord. He has an apartment available.
You can text or call him at 773-510-2271. His name is John.

Planned Water Main Projects in 48th Ward The Department of Water Management plans to install approximately 2,002 feet of 8-inch water main on Kenmore between Bryn Mawr and Berwyn. As part of this project, the east half of Kenmore will be resurfaced along with the repair of damaged parkway and sidewalk.

  • The Walk sign on the crosswalk at Addison and Kennedy is not working. It is the sign which faces east as you cross over the northbound entry to the Kennedy walking toward the station.

  • Bob Kastigar 15 Years North Park, bike rider, retired

That sign doesn't make a lot of sense anyway. When working, the walk light is lit when cars have the green light and are turning to enter the expressway!

The walk light should be lit when cars on Addison have the red light, and a "No Turn on Red" sign should be posted. Eastbound on Addison cars with an arrow would still need to stop for pedestrians.

Andersonville is Getting a Unique Korean Restaurant in the Brixton Space
There's news in Andersonville, as a new Korean restaurant will open inside the former Brixton space. The restaurant's called Passerotto and it's from chef Jennifer Kim - one half of the team that opened Snaggletooth, the acclaimed cured fish specialists that had a one-year run Lakeview.

  • Great to hear. I like that it will be more than Kalbi and Bulgoki. I remember going into Jin Ju once to get some sam gye tang, and was told, "Oh, you'll have to go to a KOREAN Korean restaurant for that.| ".

Speaking of Korean in Andersonville, does anyone know what the folks behind Takos Koreanos are up to? I thought it was a great concept, that could really fly if it had a somewhat better location.

Gunshots in Edgewater

Did anyone else hear what sounded like 5 gunshots just before 2am this morning? It seemed to be around Balmoral and Sheridan.

  • My wife and I were up talking when we heard the shots. We called the police instantaneously. From where we are we could not see anything. But it sounded like the shots were coming from Sheridan and Balmoral.

  • There was also 5 gunshots this last Friday at the same time around Wolcott and Touhy friends said.
