Flooded basement

I have about 12 inches of water in my basement from the recent storm that needs to be pumped out. Can anyone recommend someone honest and reliable?

  • Maggiemay 45 year resident @ PP

Sorry to hear about ur mess. I'm sure a lot of people got water in the basement. Check with Angie's list or home adviser. Find out why u got so much water in ur basement

  • It's likely you already figured this one out Deb but if ever you find yourself with this issue my suggestion is Ken Brown: (773) 369-7808

I use him with both my properties. He's professional, courteous, & very reasonably priced. I've suggested him on here quite a few times. Especially when it rains like a monsoon.

They claim to want to get rid of segregation because Chicago is so known for that however this city is so far gone for that and nothing about this city is run right or legal. It has corrupted the authorities and everyone in "charge". It's very sad who knows anymore who is "good or bad".@weebis you are so right on with your comment worse run city/county in the nation. I have nothing holding me here and I am for sure going to be lifting myself out of my comfort zone to move out of here. Giving so much money to this city and for what. I bet the segregation won't be happening in certain areas such as the one the mayor
Lives in. He will continue to keep himself and loved ones in there own "perfect" city living. People have no respect anymore and don't care they live for basically free and it has came to the point where they feel like it should be given to them and it should be given to them wherever they want and hey if they want someone else's things they feel they can take it or destroy property because you ask them not to sit on your porch or your car it's there world and we just live in it. Call the police for these reasons and they look or speak to like what's the problem here don't waste our time for nonsense they stole your converter on your car sorry maybe you shouldn't park it on the street it's all just pathetic and just continues to get worse.

  • Weebis SWCC Vet. (Ret.)

As this city, county, and state circle the toilet, Arena's 'Gangbanger Paradise' at 5151 N. Northwest Highway will be the crowning turd for the northwest side demise.

Gunfire by violent felons released by Dart, not prosecuted by Foxx, coddled and celebrated by Emanuel and Preckwinkle will become the 'crickets of the night,' along with the sirens of responding ambulances and squad cars.

Bravo. Shakespeare couldn't have written a better tragedy himself.

BREAKING NEWS!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...

From the Office of Mayor Wrong E. Manual

As a result of an intensive 10 year study from the University of Chicargo, the city council has voted for the immediate removal of all automobiles, vans, trucks or similar devices from within the city. The study clearly shows that 100% of all accidents involving injury to pedestrians and motorists or their passengers are associated with self powered motorized conveyances. Therefore, the only sound remedy is the removal of all such machines from our community.

Effective on December 1, 2017, any person possessing or operating an automobile, van, truck or similar device within the city limits will be arrested on felony one charges of willful pubic endangerment under the new municipal code (under home rule exception). There will be no second chance.

New transportation permits will be available for single or multiple horse, mule or bicycle drawn carriages at a rate varying from $50-200 per year. There will be an additional fine for failure to remove animal feces on the roadway of $50 per incident.

Because of their ability to exceed new speed limits of 10 MPH, genetically engineered transportation animals are forbidden and if suspected, a DNA sample will be taken. If found in violation, an additional fine of $1,000.

For those citizens requiring handicapped exemptions, rickshaw allowances may be granted upon full vetting and approval. Prevailing applicants must demonstrate they cannot walk from the corner of State and Madison to clerk's desk at city hall without having a heart attack or stroke.

Regardless of conveyance form, a city sticker priced at $500 per year will still be required for each axle of a conveyance.

Existing boot and impoundment ordinances will remain in force as modified for the new forms of conveyances.

Stay tuned for more details... LOL!

"""Dear Parents/ Guardians and Community Members,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On Saturday, October 14 at a little after 11 am, Mrs. Shelly Magnus, a valued teacher at Belding Elementary, passed away.

Anybody have a great pediatrician and OBGYN (and hospital) they would recommend?

I'm looking for a great OBGYN and a good hospital to have my baby at. (I've looked at the hospital reviews and because of them I'm kind of wanting to have my baby in another state at this point.) Please help! I also haven't been able to find a pediatrician or OB with great reviews who is nearby. I'd prefer someone close but am willing to go downtown too. Thank you so much for recommendations! I really appreciate it 😊

I’ve had two with NorthShore and had great experiences both times. I went to one appointment at Swedish Covenant and never returned, so I can’t compare much, but other Moms I’ve talked with about it, I’ve had much better experiences. Their app gives you email access to the Dr or Nurse for questions, and they almost always respond in 4 hours or less, frequently 2 hours or less. Delivery experiences were great both times. I had one nurse I wasn’t a fan of, but out of two entire deliveries, I’ll call that pretty good (and I was probably crabby.)

There’s an OB and Ped office on Touhy and babies are delivered at Evanston Hospital. Ped recommendation is Amanda Britt, OB is the office on Touhy (Drs are Jones, Thorpe, Conte, Horowitz, Muresan, all great.) I know there are closer options, but if you have a car, the care you receive is worth it!

    Good luck!

  • Prentice women's hospital with Northwestern Memorial. Choose a pediatrician from Lurie Children's Hospital (formerly Children's Memorial).

  • Thanks so much, I'll definitely check those out!! I had one appointment with Swedish Covenant and wasn't very impressed.

Arena is the one who does not support business. Arena killed the City funding for the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce not once but twice. Arena went on an out of control rant demanding that the City department that funds the Chambers in the City not give the funding to the Jefferson Park Chamber. You don't seem to understand that Arena killed the funding for the Jeff Chamber not once but twice. John Arena is the biggest phony on the Chicago City Council! Boarded up apartment bldg on 3700 Central?

Does anyone know what gives with the boarded up apartments on 3700 (ish) Central. Looks like a gut to condo and they're waiting for all tenant leases to expire? Been this way for a long while now and is not a pretty sight.

  • If you are referring to the one on Byron/Central, it is a huge eyesore. I believe former slumlord had a ton of code violations that where tied up in court and never corrected and then home was foreclosed. Now it sits there as an eyesore. Hoping some developer buys it up and turns it into a nice rehab.

  • I wish there was more details to this story other then they both got their point across. In my mind I envision them both stabbing each other, then realizing what had happened calling a "time out" and agreeing to a truce in calling an ambulance.....

the thing is after they are released from the hospital i wonder what that trip home for both of them is going to be like. i hope they both find peace.

Therapy Office Space for Rent

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of available rental space for a mental health therapy office in the old Irving park, Kilbourn park, Irving Park, and Portage Park areas.

Thank you so much for your time.

  • I believe there might be something on the southeast corner of Irving Park and Lowell.

  • TD

Thanks for the tip, I'll see what I can find there :)

Entire block of street lights out on Warwick - Long to Lindner.

Was there some electrical work being done near the 5400 block of Warwick? The entire street is pitch black at night. I reported 4 days ago and nothing. Not cool!!

  • PortageRules Love Portage Park!

It is. The alley light behind 5412 is still out. But, that light might require more work as the kids who congregate around there like to randomly throw rocks and they may have hit it like they did my house recently.

  • It’s a different request for an alley light out. I can submit it if you need help

Mental Health Therapy Friendly Office Space in the area?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of available rental space for a mental health therapy office in the Old Irving park, Kilbourn park, Irving Park, and Portage Park areas. I am more than happy to sublet from existing practices. I am hoping to find an office suitable for individual and family therapy, and it would be amazing to find a group therapy space as well.

Thank you so much for your time.

Thanks Mute. I was just curious. The place has sort of a mysterious aura.

  • Even my explanation has a mysterious aura. Due to privacy laws its hard to exactly say what kind of patients are getting treatment there bit that's what I could dig up.
