All Lives Matter - Black Professor Says "Unleash those troops"

Here is a very interesting Op-Ed piece publishing in Washington DC "the Hill" by Chicago based Black American, Jamaican immigrant Jason D. Hill - an honors professor of philosophy at DePaul University.

Professor Hill argues that Chicago's criminal street gangs have created fiefdoms where they are extorting regular citizens offering "protection" from their own robbers, rapists and killers. He is calling on President Trump to bring in Federal law enforcement including armed troops.

Professor Hill argues that Chicago's criminal street gangs have created fiefdoms where they are extorting regular citizens offering "protection" from their own robbers, rapists and killers. He is calling on President Trump to bring in Federal law enforcement including armed troops.

"We teach, as we should, the values of self-reliance and personal responsibility. But those virtues needs a clean space to thrive and flourish, a place where an innocent 13-year-old Hispanic girl trying to earn some extra money as a babysitter is exempt from having to negotiate with extortionist gang-bangers who extract half her earnings from her under the pretense of protecting her life and her virginity. In Chicago, some neighborhoods are overseen by gangs that ought to be viewed as operators of terror cells, nihilistic institutional organizations that invade the sphere of civilized life. These gangs have declared themselves above the law. "

Whether you agree or disagree with Dr. Hill, please pass this around and encourage others in our city and in places of power (Washington DC) to honestly look at the crime situation in our city. What should we do?

Mr. President, please send the troops to Chicago
President Trump Donald John Trump Comey: Trump's 'Spygate' claims are made up Trump taps vocal anti-illegal immigration advocate for State Dept's top refugee job Seattle Seahawks player: Trump is 'an idiot' for saying protesting NFL players 'shouldn't be in the country' MORE , during your presidential campaign you made a promise to send federal troops to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.

  • @House — Bah! :)

We need a whole new awakening in the conversation before something like that could happen. Unfortunately, politicians (on every side) only get elected these days by pandering to what people want to hear vs what the actual truth is.

  • House-Frau Homemaker, mom, animal lover

    Amen to that!
People - realize there are A-holes in every race, color, creed, religion, socio-economic status etc. Let’s Stop being so damned overly sensitive, politically correct&solve this problem that’s tearing this city apart!!

Chicago's Gun Control Laws - Not Enforced

Lots of Chicago and National Lib Dems have been virtue signaling over the issue of gun control after yet another terrible schools shooting, mass killing. Former Chicago Public School director and Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan (never went to a public school, taught in a public school, sends his children to expensive private school) has called for a national mass walkout of students until strict gun control laws are passed.

But the reality here in our Chicago is that existing gun control laws are often just not enforced.

Take the case of Daryl Williams who was caught with a stolen hand gun that he bought on the street (he admitted that) he was firing off the gun in our street, caught by the cops. But Chicago judge Stephanie Miller - champion of our county's "affordable bail" movement let Williams go free on recognizance bond (not even electric monitoring) and sure enough Williams proceeds to get another illegal hand gun and..... murder someone! This terrible, representable Chicago murder case was not covered by the mainstream media but was covered by the excellent Boys down crime blog CWBChicago

Prosecutors: Gun Offender Was Free On Recognizance Bond When He Got Another Gun And Killed A Man
When Daryl Williams stepped in front of Cook County Judge Stephanie Miller on Wednesday, it wasn't the first time the two had seen each other. Back in November, Miller-a champion of the county's "affordable bail" movement-let Williams go free on a recognizance bond after he was charged with possessing a stolen handgun on the South Side.

Segregation in Chicago won't be solved while anti-"gentrification" sentiment flourishes.

The Metropolitan Planning Council recently published a report of 25 steps we can take to address the segregation epidemic in Chicago.

Know what's funny? Or, maybe I should say, sad? Nowhere in the report do they address the fact that in today's political/social climate, when 'whites' move into any one given area on the South and/or West sides...they're not welcomed as "segregation busters". No, they're more often called 'gentrifiers'.

It's the new trendy bigotry...and its been cultivated and allowed to...

Nowhere in the report do they address the fact that in today's political/social climate, when 'whites' move into any one given area on the South and/or West sides...they're not welcomed as "segregation busters". No, they're more often called 'gentrifiers'.

It's the new trendy bigotry...and its been cultivated and allowed to fester to the point where, even local alderman have come out amongst the ranks of the Chicago machine to decry its atrocities: "How dare white professionals think they can move into one of these areas!" Think that's hyperbolic? Look at some of the anti-development ordinances being proposed by these political 'leaders' in traditionally underserved communities. Wake up friends. They want to keep these areas economically depressed and artificially deflated to secure votes of their own prosperity - not yours. The first black POTUS can't even open his community center without legions of protests and controversy from the "where's mine!" crowd ... and we think segregation is going to be busted by a few talking points on educational policy and equity?

Nah. This is a top-down epidemic. Years of race-baiting and pandering have created this cultural cancer. Race relations have gotten worse, not better. And this disparity of equity has been created, curated and maintained by the Chicago machine. Let's not forget that.

Tough conversations and new ideas are what will solve these issues. We'll end segregation when we celebrate our individual strengths vs obsessing over our petty differences. And they are just that...beyond petty. White, black, we're all the same. But we can't fight REAL racism when we're too busy chasing fake boogeymen.

  • Ben in Bronzeville Let's Build a Stronger City

Call me crazy, but I think you two agree about most things.

It’s fair to say that owners benefit more than renters from improving neighborhoods.

It’s fair to say we should have compassion for those renters who can’t afford paying to live in a nicer area.

It’s fair to say that people who are making a neighborhood nicer shouldn’t be demonized for trying to make it better.

    None of that is controversial.

  • Your last comment is comical. “Evidence”, eh?

I could sit here and source every single study/article/academic paper on the web regarding Chicago “gentrification” (almost all of which will inevitably touch on the race angle), but I’m not going to do that. You just keep believing what you want, I’m just...

I could sit here and source every single study/article/academic paper on the web regarding Chicago “gentrification” (almost all of which will inevitably touch on the race angle), but I’m not going to do that. You just keep believing what you want, I’m just a huge conspiracy theorist. Never mind what I go through, see, read and experience on an everyday basis.

As I said, it’s actually kind of laughable how you’re trying to pass the issue off. But that’s cool, weather is much too nice to sit here and argue with you.
