I went to the first one in 1980, when I worked in the Loop--I don't recall how much it cost except it was much cheaper, you could try a bigger variety before you either filled up or ran out of tickets, and much of what was there was unique. Great lunchtime alternative to the ubiquitous Loop cookie-cutter Greek "coffee shop" luncheonettes. On the last day I remember I had a 25-cent ticket remaining, it was warm out, and one of the vendors didn't want to cart perishables back. So I got a flat of 12 containers of strawberry Yoplait (a brand and style new to Chicago, which had only Dannon at the time), put it in the office fridge, and drove it home after work. (But to this day I can't stand strawberry yogurt),

Nowadays, I go only when my knees can take standing around for hours and there's a musical act I want to go see. You have to jockey for a table to put your food & drink down while you stand, nearly half the items are fast-food from well-known restaurants available across the area year-round; and there are those stupid tickets! You can't buy only as many as you want, because the booklets contain odd quantities that are too few or too many. I end up either forgoing something I'd really wanted, compromising and eating something I wasn't really craving, or having leftover scrip to languish in a drawer (not knowing if they'd be usable next year) or to give to strangers. Last time we went (to see the Chieftains), so few items appealed to us that we actually ended up at a real restaurant in Millennium Park with normal portions, tables & chairs, metal utensils, glasses and servers. And we spent no more than had we eaten the same quantity of food standing up, spilling stuff on our clothes and sweltering,

Extra Room?

Hi group, anybody want to make some extra $$ and rent out a room for a few months? My lease is up 5/31 and I will be traveling out of the country for work beginning in October. Looking for a short term option 3 to 4 months

I currently live in the building at 70 W. Huron and work in the Loop. I'm quite, respectful, and have great credit. Been looking online and most of the short term options are simply just scary or I have gotten no reply back.

If you or someone you know would be interested maybe we could work something out.

Thanks,

Mike

Wacker Drive office development along Chicago River lands $665 million in construction financing

Developers plan to demolish the former Morton Salt headquarters at 110 N. Wacker Drive and replace it with a 51-story office tower anchored by Bank of America.

But Riverside Investment & Development, led by veteran Chicago developer John O’Donnell, recently completed a nearby 53-story tower at 150 N. Riverside Plaza, and the firm believes there will continue to be demand for high-end space with river views.

Wacker Drive office development along Chicago River lands $665 million in construction financing
Wacker Drive's next trophy office tower has taken a key step toward reality, with its developers securing almost $665 million in construction financing. Howard Hughes Corp. and Riverside Investment & Development on Monday said they have a $495 million construction loan from a group of lenders led by Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase to build a 53-story office tower at 110 N.
