Private driveway ordinance???

I always thought there was a city law against unauthorized public parking in the space directly in front of an entrance/exit to a private home's driveway ( i.e. blocking access to it by the homeowners and household's visitors
own vehicles).

That is happening more than I can ever remember, in front of my residence and I want to put a stop to it. Before I copy the license plate number and turn it over to the police for ticketing (and or towing), I want to inform any new people on the block of my intent so they have fair advance warning. Therefore, I would like to know the exact city ordinance (if there is one). I have looked, but cannot locate anything.

If anyone out there knows, I would be obliged if the ordinance was posted here. You would think common sense and neighborly courtesy would be enough, but even "neighbors" these days don't often do the right thing....

Thanks for any assistance in locating such an ordinance.

  • We have a situation in the neighborhood, There is a mechanic shop owner, that is using the street to park vehicles for repair and also repaired vehicles, because of this sometimes is hard to find parking on the street, what can we do?. Being unsuccessful with the 16 ward alderman about this issue. We need your comments.
    Thank you

  • Javier we had this issue brought up at our CAPS meeting. They did ticket the cars, and returned the person repairing the vehicles to the city. It is still on going but getting better. So try going to your CAPS meeting. Good luck!

Stop this scam! You are creating victims by making them feel they need this kind of subsidy.

And why Time magazine, why not the American Spectator (https://spectator.org/), or doesn't that fit your socialist narrative?

Do you realize that CPS teachers make on average 20%-30% more than the average person in Chicago? And, kids graduate without marketable skills.

Ask their parents for the money. CPS is a money hole because all is given free, not earned. These kids learn dependency and are doomed by this trash.

Stop encouraging socialism. As Dickens points out in The Christmas Story when Scrooge is asked to donate to charity, he asked" Why should I give to charity, the government already took my money and opened the Poorhouses." The tragedy of government give-aways is not that the poor do not have enough, it is that the wealthy feel relieved of their responsibility to help those with less.

The government already took our money to fund schools that graduate kids that cannot read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

  • They already get free breakfast and lunch on the taxpayers dime and it appears that your poster girl in the center hasn't missed one yet. And you want to supply them with more junk food to ensure they'll destroy their health and be a further taxpayer burden.

This is a big scam and I don't know how you get away with it Mrs. Dogbert.
