Harassing Voters

Today I received a bogus letter from Illinois State Voter Report, with fake looking seal, from a fake address in Lockport about my Chicago voting habits. The letter reads as follows

Today I received a bogus letter from Illinois State Voter Report, with fake looking seal, from a fake address in Lockport about my Chicago voting habits. The letter reads as follows
Dear (My First Name)
What if your friends, your neighbors, and your community knew weather you voted? (In bold)
Why do so many people fail to voted? This year, we're taking a new approach. Were sending this mailing to you, your friends, your neighbors, your colleagues at work, and your community leaders to publicize who does and doesn't vote.
This chart shows how many people you know have voted in the past. After March 20th, we intend to mail an updated chart. You and your friends, your neighbors, and others people you know will all know who voted and who did not. (In bold)
Then there is a chart with myself, one daughter, and several others names and address, telling if they have voted since Nov 2014. I have voted not that is anyone's business. My daughter shows she hasn't voted, however she's grown and lives in a different state votes every election. Again not that thats anyone's business.
8 others neighbors on this letter showing their names and addresses and their voting habits.
Im furious at this invasive letter. Because it clear gives away what party your a registered voter of. My house is divided as to what party they vote for. We vote for person and not the party.
I also found signs in my yard by the opposite party I'm registered with. Nobody gave authorization for these signs I was away on vacation when they were placed. We never do that we love our friends and neighbors no matter their voting practices.

Did anyone else get a letter?

Does anyone know who's behind this type of voting harrasment?

Its a shame they can bold and threatening telling everyone you know but hide behind an unsigned letter without anyway to contact.

I'm interested to know if anyone else in my neighborhood knows anything about this.
Thanks

  • Cindy G Good neighbor

Wow, that's creepy. I'd be sending a copy to the Attorney General's office, maybe the Chicago Election Commission, too. And include the envelope -- did they use a regular postage stamp, or a bulk mail code or meter? The meter or bulk mail imprint might help identify the sender. Cowardly of them to protect their own identity while trying to pit people against each other. Would love to see them go down. Good luck!

  • I received that letter as well! And it was quite disturbing. I thought that was private information. :(
