5200 W. Roscoe

Noticed the construction going on inside this building of the corner of 5200 W Roscoe/Laramie. The ground level has framing going on front to back. Any ideas what they are doing?

  • Is framing going up inside the existing building or outside?

  • From what I seen that night in the dark, the framing is going on inside the first floor, front to back. Please note, I was inquiring if anyone had ideas what business establishment was coming. Or what they are building inside the place, not if there are permits. I'm not one to report people. I'm glad the building was purchased and work is being done instead of sitting abandoned.

Photojournalist Nancy Abrams looks back on her years in West Virginia in The Climb From Salt Lick
West Virginia gave me the opportunity to make a home, make a claim to some land, choose my tribe," says photographer Nancy Abrams. She tells the story of her life there in the 70s and 80s in her lively new book, The Climb From Salt Lick: A Memoir of Appalachia (Vandalia Press), in which she paints a vivid picture of what it was like to make her way in an unfamiliar territory during a turbulent time in the nation's history.

Found Social Security card

I just found a social security card on the sidewalk of the 4100 block of Keystone. First name is Evangelia. Please let me know if this is you!

  • Wicked Fast BMW Average Chicagoan who loves her city

I too live on the 4100 block of Keystone and do not know an Evangelia (though admittedly I don't know everyone). She may not live here. I too would suggest shredding it as she can get a new one and having one lost out there could lead to identity theft. I'm glad a good person found it and will take care to make sure that doesn't happen.

  • We found a credit card and the lady was listed in the phone book, lived a couple blocks down. I had my own returned to me because the finder located me on facebook. Saved a lot of hassle.
