And what part of companies relocating don't you get?

When I was in high school, my dad's employer moved to Glenview, so we did too. I moved back to the city when I started college.

While about half moved for employment reasons, the rest were mostly retirees or moving closer to family.

I'm not defending politicians, or saying that government debt isn't a factor, but they're not the reasons being given to the moving companies.

If the Republicans offered good candidates, I'd vote for them. But the GOP is so incompetent that a Neo-Nazi is running unopposed in the primary. Rauner's opponent is ultra-conservative, so not much choice there.

I looked at the sample Republican ballot, there are 10 "no candidate" positions listed (not including judges). By contrast, the Democratic ballot has only one.

How do you vote for change when there's no one to vote for?

  • Since I already stated that I am in the process of moving a company, I can tell you for certain....I get it. way more than most.

This is what happens when you cut off your nose to spite your face. Under no instance should a not for profit with a bankruptcy in process be trusted with a permit for a parade or event. Vendors deserve to know.

A few years off and a redefinition of the event on a smaller, safer scale would be a smart move to declare to the court, as well. It's called a good faith proposal.

Worms in meat at Tony's Fresh food at Fullerton and Central Park

Please do not shop at Tony's finer food. There are worms in the meat. The management does not want to deal with it. Because I sent Lorena without a receipt.

This is a serious health issue. I have informed Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and I have also filed a report with the City of Chicago public health department.

Tony's Fresh Market does not take this situation seriously.

Most juveniles charged with armed carjackings let go in 24 hours, records show

Dozens of juveniles were charged last year in Chicago for allegedly pointing guns at motorists and stealing their cars, but most were not detained longer than 24 hours, according to court records obtained by the Sun-Times.

A few years ago, major reforms to the juvenile justice system changed how armed carjacking and armed robbery are handled, Cunningham said.

Under state law, murder, attempted murder, rape, armed robbery and aggravated carjacking all had been crimes for which juveniles were automatically transferred to adult court — and many stayed in jail on bond until trial. But the reforms removed aggravated carjacking and armed robbery from the automatic transfer provisions

Innocent people suffer physically and emotionally after being victimized. What $$$ figure do we translate that into?

Also, the conjugal opportunities in prison don't yield babies and that is a tremendous savings of medical, housing, and food welfare, unless someone wants to produce statistics that trigger-pullers father children that come from economically viable family units.

Bullet shells

Noticed 8-9 shells on Bloomingdale Avenue between richmond and humboldt Blvd this morning, right where it intersects the alley. Anyone hear/notice anything recently? They seemed new. Just called it in so we’ll see.

  • I wondered that about the the casings. They are s&w 10mm casings - I’m assuming smith and Wesson. Not sure if that fits the description for anchor driving casings.

For what it’s worth they were still there about 2 hours ago, though crushed now. I took photos but can’t upload like ina new post. They were kind of in the mud from construction. But they were clean themselves. If the police looked for them they definitely didn’t pick them up.

  • If casings from a Hilte gun, can they pick them up so we don't think they are bullet casings? Can someone speak to the construction head and have them be good neighbors.

Gutter Repair Person?

I heard a loud crashing, looked out the window and my gutters and soffits have fallen off my house due to the weight of the ice! Does anyone know a repair person you would recommend that could get out here and fix this quickly? Thanks!

Missing a cat?

We've been seeing this cutie around for awhile. Today the cat was in the backyard - super friendly, loves to be petted. Always assumed it was a stray but now I'm not so sure. We have two cats already and can't take it in. Hoping someone might recognize him/her or be interested in giving the cat a home.

  • Also, if you see any cats on your block that you have questions about or other. Email us at info@whiskersandtailsfoundation.org. We most likely know them all since we take care of the cats over here. Also, if you are interested in putting a feral house in your yard let us know. We have a ton of colonies over here :)

The Mayor likes to report that crime is down in Chicago but I believe it is more like crime is being less reported. I have heard the shots being fired and dialed 911 but when the officers arrive, if no one is shot, it is given a code and no report! I talked to a neighbor who stated there has around a dozen shootings recorded on his security system over the last few months yet nothing on the news about them. You clearly see the criminal firing a hand gun at others or passing vehicles but no one is found when police arrive. Now, if you have this on video, you can demand a report but who knows this and is willing to say that to an officer? It is returning to a war zone again where I live and I thought those days were long gone! I know it is costly, but if you can, purchase a security system. It helps the police very much. CPD has taken my videos three times in the last six months for three separate shootings, one of which, the victim died! I have just learned of the latest 8MP camera security system, pictures are so clear, you have to see it to believe it. There is a great 8MP system on sale at Costco right now. There are better and there are cheaper ones but the one I saw at Costco, I think gives you the best value. Good luck everyone and be safe because it is insane what is happening where I live and in communities near by.

I wouldn't try to convince a person against an HD system. If you have the means please do yourself and your fellow citizens a favor and install it ASAP. However, if you don't have the means, please do yourself and your fellow citizens a favor by installing an analog one. As Rak points out, any camera is better than none.

The bar to do this is really low. Right now, $100 will get a 4 camera system at MicroCenter. You could probably get its equivalent used on Ebay under $50. Add another $30 for a hard drive and $35 for an IP-powerline adapter kit and you could very effectively cover a garage and/or the alley behind it. This is completely DIY-able. No experts are needed.

There are more use cases for video systems than simply handing evidence to the authorities, and there are plenty of locations around a home that don't need HD coverage. A 5'x5' space under a porch is served very well by a $10 (analog) automobile backup camera. In a constrained space, I'd happily take a low focal length, high dynamic range analog camera over the most expensive 8MP camera featuring long range night vision. If your goal is confirmation that a family of possums hasn't taken up residence then cheap, reliable and uncomplicated analog technology fits the bill perfectly.

West Humboldt Park gentrification?

At some point recently it seemed that HP was going through a slow process of being gentrified, but now it seems to have come to a standstill. For instance, west of california and north ave appeared to be improving and changing for the better, now it seems to be on hold. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I know that New Jersey is not near Chicago. Please go re-read my post.
New Jersey was mentioned along with New York, California, etc as "high tax states" as we heard during the passing of the new tax bill.

Why were the flags so expensive? Research who fabricated them; who erected them; and if those companies paid any money to politicians as "campaign contributions" Although it's probably too long ago to do that research. I'm sure the money trail has been laundered by now.
