Missing Cat

Our cat Shorts went missing on 6/19/18. He is a very nervous cat, and does not have a collar. We rescued him 4 years ago. I am not sure how he got out, if you see him please let me know. Thank you so much!

I am in need of a trap. Thank you for suggesting it, I didn’t know about them. It sounds like it would really help.

  • I think my dog and I ran across him hiding under a car on Lawndale just south of School a couple of days ago. It was about halfway down the block. He startled us but didn’t really react when Otis barked at him. I’ll keep an eye out.

2 hispanic males with gun

Today at around 630am at Belmont and Kimball I witnessed 2 shirtless hispanic males walking south on Kimball and one of them was trying to hide a gun in front of his pants. I called 911 to report them. Hopefully police responded right away and took these 2 punks off the street.

  • Juan C. Ayala Belmont Cragin Resident

@weebis Who said anything about hug a thug? You just make extreme, asinine assumptions that I think police should be soft on offenders. But you know how everyone thinks and feels right. Before you judge and assume that I am for hug a thug, don't forget that I am the one who called the cops, I have also lost family to gun violence, so don't assume that my progressive stance means I am soft.

  • Weebis Politically Incorrect Thought Criminal

@Juan, it's hardly asinine to equate progressives with a soft on crime stance.

It's lefties that chose to believe that these thugs are just a social program away from " turning their lives around,"

I applaud you for calling the cops, but that's what any half decent citizen would've done,...

Did you lose family members to " gun violence," or gang violence? There are millions of gun owners that never killed anyone, but the left in their anti-Second Amendment derangement syndrome likes to blame the tool (i.e., a firearm) instead of the individual(s) responsible for the criminal act.

Is this your cat?

Hello! This cat has been hanging out around my home the past few nights! It is an extremely friendly orange tabby with green eyes, pink nose, and white belly and paws. Please let me know if this is your cat! Occasionally he or she responds to Daniel Day Lewis.

He looks exactly like a cat I keep seeing posters for. His name is BERNIE, he went missing on 6/5- Cornelia & Ridgeway. 312.226.4325 is the contact number

Throwing away 2 sofas

These 2 sofas are pretty worn down and beat up so pretty sure no non-profit will accept them. So I called Alderman Mell's office for help. I asked them if the city still does bulk pick up as I am looking to throw these out. They took my info and said they'd look into it and never called me back. I did follow up the day after I called. Let's leave any comments about the alderman's office for another post....

I asked them if the city still does bulk pick up as I am looking to throw these out. They took my info and said they'd look into it and never called me back. I did follow up the day after I called. Let's leave any comments about the alderman's office for another post.

So now I turn to EveryBlock. My main focus here is to get rid of the sofas. Will the city garbage people take these sofas away? If not, do i need to rent a truck to go dump these 2 sofas somewhere? If so, where can I go dump them?

One sofa is a 3 seater and another is a 2 seater.

  • getoffmylawn Local Man

im near kimball and belmont and put two couches out this morning right by my trash cans near the alley. they were gone in an hour, never called anyone or got a number for anything. seems fine. city website says they will take them also.

  • Thank you everyone! Sounds like calling 311 is the first step I should take and if that doesn't work, just putting the couches out there and hoping not to get fined.

  • KF

Sign up for “informed delivery” at Usps.com. You’ll receive an email everyday showing your mail to be delivered that day. I had the same issues. Also allows you to report missing mail.

Odd event at School and Avers

Odd event near the park on School Street. Walking by CVS I see first a battalion chief, then a deputy district chief go the wrong way up the street and stop by the park. See an engine standing there, but no bystanders, no sign of EMS. A little further up the block there is one CPD SUV. It's surrounded by firefighters but only two or three cops. No one in it. FF completing paperwork on the hood of the SUV. All personnel present, both police and fire, are very quiet. No one in the neighborhood paying any attention to them, no distraught bystanders, etc. Never saw or heard any follow up response, such as ambulance.

We have a number of repairs (garbage disposal change, leaky faucet, ceiling fan problem...) looking for reliable, reasonably priced help Thank you!

  • Did you find someone you're happy with? - And if so, care to share their contact info?

  • Jonathon 773-234-8356 . My family uses him and we use him at our job. I think everybody in my office has had him out at least once. One thing we like about him is that he is always on time and always in contact. He does really good work and keeps everything neat. He's in the neighborhood as well.

What happened last night

There were cops all over the streets and helicopters on top my neighbor said that someone got shot but saw nothing on the new

  • If you are hoping for a response, the location to which you are referring should be provided.

  • Maz ethnic/cabaret accordionist, bungalow owner

What CubsHawksBears said. I did a separate post on NextDoor urging people to please give a location when posting about events or crime. We don't need to know your exact address, just a general area, i.e. Belmont & Pulaski, 3600 block of N. St. Louis, etc.

  • I heard them and saw them overhead, roughly circling around Milwaukee/Pulaski and probably on the other side of the freeway along Pulaski. Seemed like another helicopter was further north - maybe as far as Wilson? Spotlights used along Pulaski near Cornelia. Happened roughly 8:30 to 9:30 Thursday night. Didn't go outdoors, so can't comment on police activity on the ground. The helicopter closest to Pulaski/Cornelia flew very low.
