Shootings near Ridgeway and Milwaukee

There have been shootings in this area before, but this week on 2/15 and 2/14/18 a couple of cars, one being a black Honda Civic, with their lights turned off have openly shot at the house second to last from the alley near Ridgeway and Milwaukee. There have been shootings in this area before, but this week on 2/15 and 2/14/18 a couple of cars, one being a black Honda Civic, with their lights turned off have openly shot at the house second to last from the alley near Ridgeway and Milwaukee. If I had to guess, it’s the house with the 2958 address that got shot at.

The guys that live at the location are bad news. They attract violence. I don’t know if the shootings are gang related, but I’ve seen drugs and guns at that location and now they are being shot at. It’s really scary and there are a lot of little kids in the area.

Does anyone have further info or has anything to add to this post? I want to contact the police and anything neighbors can add may be helpful.

Thanks

Dibs are not only Unappreciated, but Also Illegal

Hey everyone, I know with the snow this year it's a real pain in the butt to dig your car out from the side of the road. But dibs are tacky, unhelpful, and make our beautiful neighborhood look like a dump. If everyone who dug out a spot left the spot, there would be a spot for everyone who needed one.

None of us own the streets in Chicago and none of us can claim ownership of a parking spot on these public ways. I don't even park on the street, but if I see dibs I unequivocally move them up onto the sidewalk in an unobtrusive area.

Be a good neighbor - don't place dibs.

  • Um...no. Then again, I doubt that they'd pitch a tent at a bus stop, which is what's in from of my condo building. But I would have let him/her pitch a tent in my yard. My neighbors wouldn't have liked it though.

I've given money to the homeless, even gave a winter sleeping bag to one guy who was one of my regulars. He loved it.

  • Joe

Homless DIBs under the bridge at Wilson and Lake Shore Drive should be removed by streets and sanitation. Lets be honest...DIBs and the homeless are kind of an unwanted sore on the streets of my city...but, I don’t mess with either.

***REWARD***

***REWARD***

If any of my neighbors on the 3700 block of St. Louis / Bernard alley have video footage from Friday night and Saturday day (9pm Friday to 2pm Saturday, please PM me and I will gladly pay. Someone got into my garage, opened the overhead door and placed a piece of wood trim nails up on the threshold of the overhead doorway. The police will not let me file a report because I do not own the property and I saw the nails before I drove over them. Thanks very much.

  • Exactly, Jim. I should have driven over them so I could file a report to have when this nutter escalates

Sorry to hear that someone would do that. Good luck catching the goons......

LOST Cat - 100$ Reward

Hi everyone. Our forever outdoor cat Baxter (gray and white tabby on left in second picture) is still missing. We’ve never been able to keep a collar on him, he’s been neutered, not chipped. Small rip in left ear. Please be on the lookout and let me know if anyone has seen him. Please also take a minute to check any garages, basements, outdoor crawl spaces or under decks/porches, or basically anywhere a cat could sneak in to hide or get stuck. They are curious animas.
You may also call the number 773-407-6961 if you have any details regarding him or have seen him. A 100$ reward is up. Please and thank you.

  • We are a ways away but I will definitely watch for him and keep you in our thoughts. As someone who loves cats, it's easy to imagine how hard this must be.

  • Thank you all. We’re still holding out hope. I will give treehouse a call. We’ve checked with them to see if anyone brought a cat in like him but no luck yet. I don’t think he would gravitate to a colony but you never know.
