Help prevent frozen pipes, let the water flow

I though it was common knowledge, based on my conversation with a neighbor, but you should be running water in your home to help prevent frozen pipes during this arctic cold. The water should be flowing in a steady stream, about 1/4" thick stream of constant water flow. My elderly neighbor has mobility issues and does not go into her basement. Her water was coming out very slowly. Luckily the pipe didn't burst and I was able to restore normal flow with a heat gun. It's cheaper to run the water than to repair a ruptured pipe and the damage caused along with the inconvenience of being without water.

  • I only mentioned a host of proven remedies for prevention of frozen pipes not to get into a drawn out conversation. Personally I could care less which route anyone takes.

  • crskrys work at a west lawn business

I work on 63 st. And since we moved into our new office we have had to run water all winter long so it wouldn't freeze. And we were told to do this by the water dept. You would think they could come up with a solution after all this time.
