Shootings in Hermosa

Hi everyone,

I’ve just moved here, near Pulaski and Fullerton. I work a late second shift job and since the weathers been nice I leave my windows open. I come home, shower, make dinner.

Always always always around 3-4am I hear gunshots ring out in the near distance. Almost on a nightly basis. Is this common in the neighborhood? Will it get worse as the summer months start to come? I was eating lunch last Saturday and heard the shots...

Always always always around 3-4am I hear gunshots ring out in the near distance. Almost on a nightly basis. Is this common in the neighborhood? Will it get worse as the summer months start to come? I was eating lunch last Saturday and heard the shots ring out down the block from me, very close.

Police are pretty negligent in this district yeah? I keep reading how bad they are and I haven’t seen any crime reports for shootings around my area. Just curious, stuck in a year lease so I just want to make the best of it.

Thanks!

Garbage Can Fires

I'm located at the 2800 block of Lowell. There had been stuff going on, on our block that was never an issue before. But I do not see an increase in police presence. Last week my neighbors tires were slashed, there's noise of shootings on the weekends and yesterday some idiot set fire to some trash cans in our alley. One of the garbage cans caught fire very quick and spread to our garage. Luckily our neighor caught it and put it out before the fire department arrived. We do have damage to the corner of our garage but it could have been so much worse, since our car was parked in the garage. My husband and I are the new Block Captains and I will be speaking with our Alderman about this. I just hope people are aware of the changes going on and they are calling 911 and reporting things they see. We have to stand together as a community or it will get worse.

Have you been in contact with the police district?

  • Yes, we filed a police report. Who mentioned there has been an increase in crime in the area.

Found small black terrier dog

Hello. We found an adorable dog yesterday roaming around Kostner and Kamerling. She was going south on Kostner and almost got hit by a car when She decided to go east. She is safe now, took her a bath, fed her and will take her to the vet later on today to see if she is chipped. I posted on Ilinois lost dogs, pawboost and also craigslist. I contacted 311 and reported the dog as well. If this is your dog or if you have any information regarding this dog please contact me at 773 936 9979..call me or text me anytime. I am really hoping the owners are found. Thank you

World Vision to host run for clean water this weekend

La Grange Park pastor Tim Hoekstra will join Austin residents as they participate in Saturday's World Vision 6k - which is roughly the distance many living in Africa must walk to get clean water.

World Vision to host run for clean water this weekend
In certain parts of Africa, the average walking distance to a water source is just shy of four miles. That's why Tim Hoekstra leads Austin residents in World Vision's Global 6k for clean water every year; he wants clean water to be more accessible to a greater number of African families.
