Seeking a Community Cartoonist

I am seeking a person with a measurable degree of illustrative talent to dipict in cartoon board format an absurd politically-motived arrest, harrassment, and persecution that is ongoing. This may be the best way to let people/public know what happened and is happening.

I am an artist myself, I can do it but its not my strongest point this type of illustration. It wouldn't be a full-length graphic novel or even close, could be as few as 10-20 frames. If this is something you can do please reach out to me, we can discuss some compensation I will respect your time and talent.

Thank ya kindly and hope to hear from ya.

  • Who ever drew the doodle in this posting might be able to do the job after some practice and taking a few cartooning lessons on YouTube. Here's a good beginner's lesson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QKM8TwtYN0

  • Jeffrey Littleton Fear Not, Uptown.

It comes up as an error message. Anyhow looking for someone experienced with the format and recognizable portrait skills, some semblance of a portfolio.

I am going to supply the frame by frame narrative with a rough sketch of the scene to be depicted. I actually have experienced people to choose from but asking the community first.

Detroit-style pizza makes inroads in Chicago
We all know how serious Chicago is about its pizza, but there's a relatively new type of pizza making inroads here: Detroit-style. It was created just a few years after Uno's launched deep dish here, and our Hungry Hound said the motor city's version has some similarities and some differences.

Sorry, I saw these news reports on this "so called" Detroit style pizza. I lived in Detroit for 50 years & have been to the Original Buddys Pizzeria & Shields PIzzerias in
Detroit. And they never looked like those. Granted they were deep dish but the sauce went on first, followed by the meat, veggies & finally the cheese.

  • Citizen Pain Citizen Pain

It seems to be a trend to anoint a 'new regional style' pizza. We should all get hyper-local and whip up one ourselves.

Santa in Edgewater this weekend

This weekend there are two opportunities for children to get their photos taken with Santa. The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce's Northside North Pole event Saturday will transform Bryn Mawr into the North Pole. Businesses will offer free treats and holiday activities for kids, Santa and his elves will lead a parade from the CTA station, carolers will perform on the street, and The Lytle House (5517 N. Broadway) will host photos with Santa! On Sunday, Steep Theatre will host an open house with Santa in their rehearsal space at 1113 W. Berwyn from 3-5:30pm. Both events will be accepting donations for Care for Real's Holiday Toy Drive as well.

I venture over there as I eat and visit friends in the neighborhood and the place is seriously dated, and there have been multiple times I have visited the store packed with customers and only two cashiers on shift. The lines are literally halfway down the store aisles. And that is once you are in the store. You have to go out into the Rob Me Dim barely light parking lot. The lighting reminds me of a Kmart parking lot, from like the 1980s. Lighting technology has changed so this lot should be light up like daylight at all times. It is seriously dark and a carjacking/mugging waiting to happen.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Well I did it again. I missed the city's Christmas Tree recycling deadline. (Growing up our tree was always around until February, taking it down this early seems unnatural.) Does anyone have recommendations on where I can take this little guy so he doesn't end up spending the rest of his days in anaerobic purgatory?

  • MandaLeigh Here I Is.

What the heck? Was another post deleted that I missed? Why is Peter up in arms about Vicky's name being misspelled?

I immediately threw up in my mouth and drove off without collecting my food. Other people have mentioned they've seen big rats running around that property as well. I understand they are hard to control, but I've never seen them at Wendy's or McDonalds (granted I rarely go to those places). I'm hoping the BK on Irving Park and Clark is better. I will never go to the one on Lawrence again.

I have seen two posts on here about someone in the neighborhood assaulting another resident.that got taken down. I have no idea why it's okay to take that kind of information down, as it's clearly relevant to the neighborhood and all of our safety. There are crime posts on here all the time about attacks and assaults in the neighborhood. Somehow these posts can't stay up? I know that the person involved is a prominent and frequent poster here (initials JL), but that shouldnt excuse that person or create a situation where that poster can sanitize what he did on a public street. Especially when the information is in the public record.

I just don't get it. I moved here three years ago and am sick that someone can assault and threaten a neighbor without anyone in the neighborhood knowing.

Again - the message is definitely not okay, but I think at this point, anyone reading this thread might genuinely wonder where the menace really lies. I only commented because I received an EB message today that resurrected someone's comments directed at me from many weeks ago (not sure how/why that happens). Hopefully this will end after tomorrow's (?) hearing.

Would not have known it unless the woman that was with the guy hadn't rung my doorbell at 5 a.m. to try to get in to get her keys. 911 called and police dispatched. They took him out on a stretcher as he was so intoxicated (there was an empby bottle of grey goose next to him). The police treated the lady with the guy very dismissively not interviewing her at all or asking any questions until she mentioned that he was drinking due to finding out he had been diagnosed with HIV a week or so ago. THEN they scrambled.

no report filed just that they requested transport and treatment.

I'm just impressed by HarleyGrrl's bravery. In this day and age I would be really freaked out if this happened at my home. Tons of compassion for anyone with HIV, cancer, type 1 diabetes, what have you, but also compassion for someone being awakened in their own home by as disturbing an incident as this. Every building in Chicago needs to replace their crummy old doors with security doors. I just went nuts on our condo board for neglecting this after a new owner was attacked on her top floor landing by someone who had come in through our old door that never shuts all the way. Thank goodness Harley did call police. Sounds like this man ran the risk of dying from alcohol poisoning before HIV.

Technical Wizard needed

I am seeking to hire a person of any age who can be my go to person for all questions technical. Example: teach me how to download and play podcasts, create interactions between computer, phone, tv, tablet, firestick, echo and so on. We are PC and android users, no apple products.

We don't have any kids and neither of us are naturals. We are glad to consider teens/students who are responsible and interested in making some money. Best case scenario is that we have someone on retainer upon whom we can call as needed and will have time to respond or come over. I will pay better than minimum wage.

Lincoln Square residents.

  • I've got a great guy for you. He has been my go to guy for many years now. His name is John Cummings phone 773-412-3867

  • Richard Wolf …It takes two to lie; one to lie and one to listen

I speak as an IT professional.

If you want quality help, you're probably going to have to pony up substantially more than minimum wage…especially if you want someone to visit you, in-person, and be ready to take random calls from you…you should expect to pay at least $50 per interaction,...

I don't want to sound cynical, but I would extremely be wary of anyone (teen, student, otherwise) who would offer to provide you tech support for around $15 per hour…that would effectively be a "too good to be true" deal.

New cocktail on the block: Big Jones' Hot Buttered Soul

I love it when a bite of a delicious morsel transports me to another time or place. One sip of the Hot Buttered Soul from Andersonville’s Big Jones (5347 N. Clark St. 773-275-5725), and I was, to my surprise, whisked away to a sandy beach in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

  • Liz Houtz Tree House Community Cats Program Manager

The best way to get a lost cat back is by setting out a humane trap at the place he escaped. You can borrow one from tree house humane society at no cost, deposit only. Only trap when you are home to check every 15 mins, keep trap covered and never trap overnight

What A Difference A Year Makes

It was on December 23 of last year that North Side Housing and Supportive Services, the men's shelter in the Preston Bradley Center, announced happy tidings. Literally days before it was scheduled to close forever because of funding issues, a private donor (the Reva and David Logan Foundation) came up with enough money to keep the shelter running for several more years.
