    CHICAGO (CBS) - Because of the heavy rains, flooded roads are a big concern and a serious danger for drivers. CBS 2's Jeremy Ross has the story from the Buena Park neighborhood. Dreary, gloomy and wet. That's how some describe the day and it's also a accurate description of several roads due to the downpours.

    CBS (CHICAGO)- The rain that hit the Chicago-area Thursday was heavy and unrelenting, causing problems ranging from flooding to traffic and bad hair days. CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reported Thursday afternoon from several areas around Chicago where vehicles were stuck in high flood waters and drenched commuters were just trying to make it home.

The Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities has awarded AWOFINC a 2018 grant, one of 132 rapid-response grants to support activities that promote safe and peaceful conditions in 19 prioritized Chicago communities. AWOFINC's Parent Information & Resources, Violence Prevention Consortium and Youth Leadership & Development initiatives seek to identify and establish Community-Based Participatory Partnerships with groups and organizations. The consortium will be actively engaging multiple communities. A 25-year-old man was shot and seriously injured around 11:35 p.m. Monday in the West Side’s East Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said. He was standing outside in the 3800 block of West Ferdinand Street when a male shooter got out of a car and fired at him.

Less than an hour later, the 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were shot by someone who approached while they were sitting and eating in a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of North Spaulding Avenue, police said.

The boy, along with three others, waved a replica handgun and tried to rob the man and another person around 6:20 p.m. Monday in the 8000 block of South Oglesby Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said.

Another 15-year-old was shot earlier on Monday while she was walking with two friends around 6:05 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Indiana Avenue in the South Side’s Bronzeville neighborhood, police said.

Most recently, a 20-year-old man was seriously injured when he was shot in the chest around 7:10 p.m. in the 700 block of North Monticello Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
