    The family business of C&J Auto Parts is closing after over 65 years at its current location at 3200 S. Archer Ave. This Saturday, February 3, will be the last chance for customers to shop on the final day of C&J's going-out-of-business sale, ending the work that ran through four generations of the Zalon family.

    Muskateer, I would note that this isn't a big box development (or doesn't seem to be). It will be mostly residential with first-floor commercial on the sidewalk facing the street.

    McKinley Park News - Lipinski Calls for Bubbly Creek Cleanup to Move Forward
    Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL) is renewing his calls for cleanup of the South Fork of the South Branch of the Chicago River, more commonly known as Bubbly Creek. The extremely polluted waterway, which gets its name from century-old slaughterhouse sludge still pushing bubbles to the surface, suffered another befoulement by diesel oil this past fall.

Year in Review #2017 Alderman Cardenas Throws First Pitch for Omega Delta Baseball Season On April 22nd, 2017 Alderman Cardenas threw out the first pitch starting the season for the Omega Delta Baseball League at Hoyne Park, 3417 S. Hamilton. Each year the alderman sponsors a team to show his support for the incredible work of the league. Omega Delta is a regular sponsor of community activities at the park as well as baseball. The Alderman stated, "Baseball is a perfect way to showcase local talent and keep kids on the right track. Criminal activity is depleted with daily usage of the park. Making a strong community is a true team effort".

Help adults learn English at Aquinas Literacy Center!
Volunteer as a one-on-one tutor for just 90 minutes a week at 1751 West 35th Street on the southwest side of Chicago. All tutoring is in English, so you don't have to speak another language to volunteer. Volunteer tutoring opportunities are 9am-8pm, Monday-Thursday.
Join us for our next tutor training workshop: Friday, January 26 (6pm to 9pm) and Saturday, January 27 (9am to 4pm). Attendance on both days is required to begin as a tutor. How can people in certain parts of Pilsen tolerate Banda music and drunkeness in the middle of the night? How? The is a total lack of regard for people who have wake up early. Moreover, if you call the police, you become a target for their animosity. Does anyone know how to silence these folks without becoming a target?
