I disagree, 9-12 months is not too short for a first assessment. Do another in 18-24 months sure why not.

No program should go more than 12 months without assessment, especially a new program.

Chance The Rapper Visited Uptown Last Night

Guess who showed up at the Pedersen-McCormick Boys and Girls Club on Friday night? Chance the Rapper made an unannounced appearance to help distribute winter clothing to club members. He stayed for a couple of hours giving autographs, talking to the attendees, and posing for photos.

Can you help CACC's dogs and the doggy overpopulation by adopting a dog?

This winter CACC has rapidly approached its maximum dog population. Can you help? Have you thought about adopting a pooch? Here's the opportunity for you (with some financial incentives) and a new life for a sadly caged dog. See:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-chicago-dog-shelter-at-capacity-20180111-story.html

City dog shelter hits capacity of 300, has to consider euthanizing animals
The number of dogs at Chicago's Animal Care and Control shelter reached 300 Thursday, a level that prompted the city shelter to consider euthanizing animals. "We do have to make a decision this evening if we can't get the population down.

The city is doing a better job with this overall, adoption up, euthanasia down.

Car break-in with no theft

Sometime last night or early this morning, our car was broken into and the glove box ransacked, but nothing appears to have been taken. We could have sworn we locked the doors, but they were all unlocked. Apparently, the same thing happened to a neighbor. Anyone else! This is near Glenwood and Winnemac.

Lincoln Towing Stokes Again

The much deservedly maligned Lincoln Towing decided the best way to close out 2017 was to illegally tow a moving van packed with belongings and to make that burn a double their personal car too.

The incident occurred close to Broadway Lawrence...thank you Alderman Pawar for keeping up the pressure on LT. At least someone in the city council is paying attention.

After Lincoln Towing Hauls Away Uptown Family's Moving Truck, Alderman Re-Ups Call For Company To Go
A day after the North Side's infamous Lincoln Towing company took possession of a family's U-Haul and their personal car in Uptown, 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar is renewing his call for the firm to be outlawed. And this is the second case we know of involving Lincoln Towing's apparently illegal removal of moving trucks in 2017.

It's a near certainty they do not do "payoffs" as some keep alleging.
It's just not as common these days that happens.

Especially with judges since Operation Gaylord in the 80's.

    Correction... Operation Graylord.

I wonder who comes up with these operational names...?

Wilson Bike Racks

Has anyone used the new racks at Wilson Station?

Are these types of racks really as bad as the biking advocates say?

Eyes on the Street: Subpar Bike Racks at the Wilson Station
If you're a regular Streetsblog Chicago reader you may be aware that I'm a fan of the nearly completed Wilson 'L' station reconstruction in Uptown. The project includes transforming the stop into a Red-Purple transfer, adding wheelchair accessibility, new station entrances, the restoration of the 1923 Gerber building, and cool public art by Cecil Balmond.
    https://chi.streetsblog.org
  • Cool and sculptural is great if it is functionally easy.

I just don't understand why they cannot install the Inverted U Shaped black ones.

Not only are they easy to use, But also much more secure and you can rest your bike against it.

New Scaled back CAPS Schedule

There have been some major changes to the CAPS meeting schedule for Uptown south of Lawrence (19th district). There are now only 3 per year or every 4 months.

Dates have also changed, check schedule for your area/beat.

This is the new CAPS schedule for Uptown. Take note the meetings which were monthly until a couple years ago were cut back to every other month. The meetings have now been cut back to every 4...
    https://m.facebook.com
  • Uptown south of Lawrence is completely in the Townhall 19th Police District. Why is the Lincoln 20th Police District CAPS schedule being shown here? Only a small part of Uptown between Lawrence and Foster is in the 20th Police District. This information isn't from the 19th Police District or even coming from the official Sheridan Park Neighbors Association which was incorporated in the summer of 2017, and is registered as a not-for-profit with the state of Illinois.

  • Six meetings a year. The sky isn't falling. Kindly control yourself.

The CAPS meeting for Beat 1912 is tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th, at 7pm. It takes place at the Sulzer Library, 4455 N Lincoln.  The beat's boundaries are Lawrence, Clark, Irving Park, and Damen, which puts it just west of our coverage area, but it is still technically part of Uptown.

As Wilson Men's Hotel prepares to close for renovations, a look at shrinking number of SROs in Chicago

So Adams, a 13-year resident of the SRO, has mixed feelings when he thinks about packing what few belongings he has and moving out later this year when the hotel on Wilson Avenue near Broadway shutters for renovation by its new owners.

This article has 1 other Chicago location (Show)

Feeding Kitten

Hello EB neighbors! I found a kitten without its mother in sight. Because of the brutally cold weather,I didn't want to leave it outside. The kitten looks young enough to still require nursing. I asked my neighbor to pickup supplemental kitten milk and feeding bottles from Petco en route to his trip to Whole Foods. Do anyone know if there is a proper way to bottle-feed kittens? Is it best to feed them while they stand upright? On their stomach? Side?

  • Mute Truth is not determined by majority vote

Its quite possible a cat can transmit worms felv or fiv between now and tomorrow if op is unaware its great advice even if being seen by the vet tomorrow to keep cats seperated. Felv is highly contagious and incurable.

  • Thanks everyone! I will keep them in separate rooms until she is cleared by the vet. My cat received his annual vaccines last month when I took him in for an aural hematoma.
