Anyone know what's up with 1806 N Paulina?

https://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/1806-N-Paulina-St-60622/home/13354601

Been on the market for a few months. "No showings" makes me suspect it's either crumbling apart or needs evictions. Great area and price though. I'm tempted to offer and would love some inside knowledge if you live nearby.

    1806 N Paulina St, CHICAGO, IL 60647 - 13 beds/7 baths
    (MRED) For Sale: 13 bed, 7 bath ∙ 1806 N Paulina St, CHICAGO, IL 60647 ∙ $899,900 ∙ MLS# 09800203

  • Have you reached out to the listing agent? I don't know anything specific about this place but many times, multi-unit buildings have limited showings to not disturb the tenants.

  • Yes - this one's a bank repo and they're being very tight lipped. No inspections even!

  • Andrew Carpenter Realtor Edgewater home owner and Chicago Reator

They have multiple bids already and are asking for highest and best by Thursday at 5 p.m.
I have more information if you are interested but I don't want to publicly attract more competition against you. Feel free to contact me.

Missing white husky - in Bucktown/Wicker Park/Logan Square

Hi, everyone. Earlier tonight, our dog ran out through out front gate. He is a male, all white husky; responds to Yukon and was last wearing a blue harness. He is not chipped. We live by Western and Charleston, but he's a runner by nature so I'm not sure how far he would've gone by now.

I am not sure how this works, but if anyone has any information please send a message. My poor boy is out in the cold alone. I need him to come back home.

Increased gang activity in East Humboldt Park -- Albany & Wabansia

I moved to my current apartment on the corner of Albany and Wabansia 2 years ago.
I have noticed a huge increase in gang activity in this area. Gangs are tagging buildings in greater numbers. Three cars were broken into over the last 3 months. I hear a number of gunshots many nights out of the week. There was a murder in front of the apartment building on Albany and Wabansia about a year ago. Does anyone know what is going on? Is this normal?

My favorite aunt lost her battle with cancer almost a year ago. She didn't have much but she gave everything. She took in strays and always brought dog and cat food to local shelters. She became a vegetarian because she loved animals. She left two cats behind that my sister is taking care of, one of which has feline leukemia. My aunt found the cat when it was still a kitten and didn't have the heart to turn it away after finding out it had leukemia. The other cat is older and not well so I think my sister and I have to talk about next steps for that cat. But now the question is what to do with the younger one with leukemia.

I share the love of animals and have a combination of 6 Dogs and cats having varying forms of issues and taking in a cat with leukemia isn't going to work. My sister has an older cat of her own that we don't want to expose to the cat with leukemia. It kills me to think there are no options for a cat with leukemia.

So I'm reaching out to see if there's anyone out there who has a cat with leukemia who wants a mate for their cat or knows of any shelters who will take this cat in to rehome her.

Please share any ideas.

  • Praying for a resolution for the cat.

  • Best wishes for a happy resolution and home for your inherited feline with leukemia.

Friends of ours once kept their cat with feline leukemia in a separate floor of their home from all their other pets. I think that works fine for cats that aren't extremely social. We currently keep separate floors of pets for other reasons - age & attitude. Keeps the peace.

Question about teardowns that affect direct neighbors

I'm asking this for a friend. Her neighbor sold their house and it will be torn down and replaced with the standard Bucktown SFH double wide, triple high, cement block trailer home. She's not so concerned about that however. She's afraid that the foundation dig will break her 100+ year old foundation and perhaps cause irreparable damage done recklessly.

Personally I've seen developers put in big metal barriers to protect a neighbor's foundation and I've seen them dig without any protection. What is the proper way for her to guarantee legally they dig the foundation safely and properly? She doesn't care what they do after that as long as they follow proper setbacks etc.

There’s more to watch!!! South of me construction: I watched the whole demolition from a lawn chair in winter. If I hadn’t, debris would have fallen into my gutters and possibly damaged my roof and chimney. I would have never known. I took photos. The wreckers were not pleased with me and after one very close call, they angrily called out “Was that OK?” Believe me they were very careful and unhappy. A week later, my lawn furniture went missing. The builder reimbursed me (I made a profit). He also bricked up a window for me. On the north side (yep, new homes on both sides of me), the builder didn’t fill in the dirt to the previous level so I had to build a retaining wall to prevent yard erosion. I had the alderman out at that construction. Both constructions were before the recession. My house has had problems since but I don’t know if construction was responsible…stuff happens. My advice is watch like a hawk, take pics, demand reimbursements and be a b***h!

@Artist girl, Talk to any beat cop that has worked in the 11th District or any other high crime district. They will tell you about arresting countless offenders numerous times.

An arrest can easily pull 1-2 police officers off the job for a couple of hours as they process the person caught breaking the law. Hours of paperwork and process/procedure later, and after hours of having those police off the streets, the arrested party is given a court date. Typically this is just 1-3 days after their arrest. The officers come in on their days off or are taken off of their normal duty to go testify in court. This often causes the arresting officer(s) and their replacements to work overtime which costs taxpayers millions and can cause fatigue. Most of the Cook County judges, after hearing the evidence of the case and the sworn statements of the officers, whether the alleged is judged guilty or not-guilty order an immediate release of the accused for "time served", which as I stated prior is just a few days or maybe a week. Even upstanding citizens on parole caught carrying or even firing an unregistered weapon get slaps on the wrist. I saw this firsthand and remain in a state of disbelief. Then because the sentence was too light for the "alleged" crime according to sentencing guidelines the scumbag attorney brigade is waiting at the bottom of the courthouse steps to take up multiple cases for improper arrest, search, false imprisonment and whatever else the clown factory spits out that day. My experience is not vast but on numerous occasions I witnessed 80-95% of lawbreakers (of the 30-40 cases on that day) simply set free with only a 1-3 day incarceration slap on the wrist. It is frequent that all too soon they are caught doing something illegal soon thereafter.

So the cycle starts all over again. The cops catch, and the judge releases. Dart is happy! He has closed jails and this requires that the prison population be kept low. Our city is a darned disgrace.

Shooting on Thomas and California

Just a quick heads up neighbors. I witnessed a shooting at the Food and Dollar on Thomas and Cali yesterday about 230pm. About 6 shots fired and some serious yelling and running around afterwards. Several people running out of the store and getting into a White Nissan Altima. Cops closed the area off for several hours after. I spoke to the police to give some details of what I saw and they reported that it was all caught on video, so hopefully it leads to some arrests. Its been quiet around here lately and I know we all hope it stays that way.

Be safe everyone and please report suspicious activity!

As far as watching for the car Lol. Probably stolen in a staged accident or was car jacked. There have been several of those recently in the area. The vehicle is already dumped somewhere. The area used to be filled with gangs. Now they travel in. Not the same people as before. If I say who they are and identify by skin color I will be labeled a racist. So all I can say is look at the video of the recent armed robbery on North Ave East of Damen and draw your own conclusions. The video is posted on this site. Every armed robbery has same description of offender.
