The chain of events leading up to the fatal police pursuit began about eight minutes earlier when a dispatcher broadcast over the police radio a report of a burglary in progress in the 7800 block of South Ellis Avenue.

Four blocks later, at Yates and 76th, Jones blew through a red light. Two cars cleared the intersection in the next 7½ seconds before the police SUV smashed into Reynolds’ car as she drove into the intersection on a green light, the experts said.
