No Black History Display in City Hall for Black History Month?

No Black History Display in City Hall? Why is that? and Who is Responsible?
Neither the Mayor's Office or Black Caucus sought to put a historic display of
African American Heroes here in Chicago...Inventors/Artists/Educators and Elected Officals have contributed much to the fabric of the city. According to WVON an obscured
display on the Cook County Side is barely distinguishable.
This inaction will be remember at the POLLS!

This is so unfortunate. They continue their sense of carelessness.

Yes, Yes, Mariano's Om South Shore

I would very much want them on 71st in Jeffery. Have lived in the area for over 50 yrs. There are stable people that would like to shop in our community, rather than drive a distance North or South.

Mr. Hassan I did go down the street for many years and shopped at Dominick's on 71st.for many years while they were here in the neighborhood and yes their food prices had become very high also I believe that is one reason why they were losing Business and closed. Because people started shopping else where like Walmart and also food for less too get same brand of products but at less cost and I been shopping at food for less now for awhile since they haven't put a new food store in our area on 71st Jeffery I'm about 4 yrs or more now. So yes I go elsewhere now too shop and some times it can be very costly transportation wise but what else am I too do I don't care for jewels on 75th stony the store too small and crowded all time and everything thing also out stock and pick over and there prices are just ridiculous too high especially the fresh meat. Alda and save a lot is 👌 for some things. But when I really want food shopping for me and my family I go up on 87th and Danryan too Food for less and stock up for weeks on food for me and mine. And I never had a problem with any thing I ever bought there at all. I save money and get my money worth and my family stock up with food for weeks and they are feed well. So I would like too see a food for less store put there on 71st.jeffery.cause I believe they would get twice as much business there from this community then a Mariano's would but that's just my opinion. But no matter what any store replace there would be welcome and greatly appreciated and needed. Cause it been too long not having one there Now. 😃

  • Hassan Non

@Clinette, I'm with you 100%, at this point any grocer would be welcomed. Karriems and Stop n Save supposed had come to this location but I don't know what happened. Maybe if Leslie ran the ward right we'd have had one by now

Tax Cuts

Can politicians resolve the issues of the middle, lower, and subclasses, when their political future is dependent on the monetary contributions of the super rich? I think not. Can politicians resolve the issues of the middle, lower, and subclasses, when their political future is dependent on the monetary contributions of the super rich? I think not. The one percenters, the super rich, are playing a mean game of trickle down economy (give the super rich and corporations tax breaks and they will create jobs for the middle and lower classes). This was made popular by the Regan administration. It didn't work then and it won't work now. The rich will simply bank their tax saving and send it to off shore accounts to avoid any future taxes and the corporations will give addition value to their stock holders by stock buybacks and increased dividends. This will widen the gap between the has and have-nots. Unfortunately, we are living in a time where one who has political aspirations on a mayoral, state wide or national scale has to dependent on the contributions from the mega rich or be independently wealthy. I don't profess to know the answer. I do know we have to voice our displeasure with the current direction this country is going on what ever platform is at our disposal.

  • Phill "Obama wants to know everything"

Check this video! Would liberals support the Republican tax bill if they thought it was really a Bernie Sanders proposal??? Watch and find out
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN3vM-T-lm0

  • Ms Dee resident

Keep an eye on your pockets! What is working? What is not? Where can improvement be made? This is still new. We won't see the tax bill effects until 2019-2020.

President Clinton left the office with a surplus. The market crashed under the administration of President Bush. It was rising slowly under President Obama.

I'm not siding with political parties. We need to find out the "what" that made the economy work for us. The "why" it worked and how to keep it working.

South Shore Grocery Market

What is the status of the proposed replacement grocery store at the former Dominick's location at 71st and Jeffrey? In my view, the area has been without a reasonable food store for too long.

The jewel on 75th stony have delivery men. But you have too go shop there in person and they will take u home for a fee which price depends on how far you have too go and what floor u live on and must of the delivery men up their are older and can't help u up the stairs with your bags ateast not past the 2nd FL. So u can only get delivery service at the 75th store if u go there shop personally and take the delivery man home. And they are mostly older guys and can't really help you carry up bags if u got take stairs on higher floors. But they are very nice delivery people that been their for years and are well trusted. 😊

  • I see some seniors come store in groups on a big bus that picks them up and takes them back home and some of them also get that transportation car they can call too take them where they have too go shopping doctor appt etc I believe the cost is free too them or a small fee. That's how I see them getting around mostly and some have home healthcare care workers or family members too take them shopping or do the shopping for them. 😃

Looking for stolen ring - REWARD

My engagement ring was stolen by someone who I know spends a lot of time in South Shore and may live nearby (which I know thanks to a Ventra card that was also stolen), so I'm just throwing it out there. If anyone has seen the below ring, please let me know! It's a 14k white gold ring (size 5ish) with an old cut diamond and small sapphires on the side.

$200 reward if it is recovered! No questions asked.

  • Will Homeowner

Sorry about the theft of your ring and Ventra card. If your Ventra card indicates the date, time, and transportation source of the user of that card, you may be able to get an image of that person. Most bus and all "L's" have date and time stamped cameras. Good luck.
