Tax Cuts

Can politicians resolve the issues of the middle, lower, and subclasses, when their political future is dependent on the monetary contributions of the super rich? I think not. The one percenters, the super rich, are playing a mean game of trickle down economy (give the super rich and corporations tax breaks and they will create jobs for the middle and lower classes). This was made popular by the Regan administration. It didn't work then and it won't work now. The rich will simply bank their tax saving and send it to off shore accounts to avoid any future taxes and the corporations will give addition value to their stock holders by stock buybacks and increased dividends. This will widen the gap between the has and have-nots. Unfortunately, we are living in a time where one who has political aspirations on a mayoral, state wide or national scale has to dependent on the contributions from the mega rich or be independently wealthy. I don't profess to know the answer. I do know we have to voice our displeasure with the current direction this country is going on what ever platform is at our disposal.

A glimmer of hope for embattled engine that powers preservation of historic buildings

The entry way to the former Stony Island State Savings Bank at 6760 S. Stony Island Ave. on November 6, 2015, is now home to the Stony Island Arts Bank.

The word "conservative" comes from the same linguistic root as "conserve," which means to protect an environmentally or culturally important thing from harm or destruction, according to my online dictionary.

Overruling top cop, Chicago Police Board to review officer's fatal shooting of teen
A veteran Chicago police officer who was cleared of wrongdoing by Superintendent Eddie Johnson in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy still must face a disciplinary hearing that could cost him his job. Last summer, Chicago's police review agency had found Officer Brandon Ternand used excessive force, calling the shooting of Dakota Bright "unprovoked and unwarranted" and recommending his firing.
