Off Color goes small and exotic at new taproom
Off Color Brewing expected to max out production at its Northwest Side brewery in about five years. It happened in three. The initial inclination was to do what most small breweries do when reaching that crossroad of increased demand and no more capacity. Build a new brewery. A big brewery.

  • British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park reviewed by a parent

We've had two children go through the British School LP campus for a number of years. If your child falls within the normal range of most children they will do fine here. If you suspect your child has any sort of learning challenges I can't recommend enough that you stay far far away. They do ok with LD support and have a lovely team of people in place to help with this. Unfortunately they are all pretty young and not terribly good at identifying key issues early enough and effectively communicating this to the parents. Then, at least for us, we got the feeling is some kind of pressure to keep telling the parents not to worry, things will be fine, so they can keep the child enrolled in the school. No way to prove it obviously that was just the sense we got. Then the real drawback is they do literally no standardized testing so there is no real way to gauge your child's progress. This may be part of the British philosophy, but we found it close to impossible to really assess how they are doing. A lot of friends transferred out to LAB, Parker, Latin etc for this reason. PROS: Lovely teachers, very bright if a bit young, top-notch facilities, great location, very very strong music and arts programs, not too difficult to get in, good amount of after school programs. CONS: no standardized testing, no strong skills on identifying children with learning support needs, homework seemed inappropriate for age group at times, grading system constantly changing, administration changes frequent, seems like a lot more students transfer out that in. overall it's a good environment but couldn't get past the constantly changing homework, grading policies and administration staff.
