Condo Association Management Company Suggestions?

Hello,

Any board members or owners out there that have a property management they've enjoyed working with? Ideally with small to mid size condo associations. (IE 10-20 units).

Any feedback is much appreciated.

  • would advise on having the financials handled by a management company and handle the maintenance yourself. You should look at www.chicagoecondosolutions.com they have a financial package for $150 to $250 per month based on the number of units. Other services on demand if needed.

Spoke Apartments Aggressive Signage

Anyone else bothered by the massive SpokeApartments.com posters blocking the skyline views? I am wondering if there are signage zoning rules that apply, at least for the removable ones

Brand New Apartments for Rent in Chicago's River West | Spoke Apartments
This gorgeous two-tower community in the River West neighborhood features apartments and town homes with instant access to the city of Chicago via the Blue Line subway and Milwaukee Avenue's "Hipster Highway."

  • You might have a case with zoning laws. My condo building dealt with something similar several years ago when the apartment next door (same builder) put a sign on *our* roof. I don’t know what ended up being the resolution but you could certainly check if they are zoned for signage, I think.

@heather more for knowledge sake than actual litigation, and good point :) @kris Yes true, I was thinking more about the hanging sign on the east side that spans several stories. Thoughts?

Its a bit late in the season, so hard to find a service, but I have a service that I recommended to a client in Lincoln Park this year, and we just sold their other property, a row house, so maybe they could fit you into their schedule? Try Kevin McVicker at 773-268-2050 or 708-935-3729. His company is McMaster Painting but they do snow removal in winter. They service my own 8 unit condo building the past 4 years and are very good. My client in Lincoln Park is very happy with their service also.

  • We use Subjectk for the snow removal for our condo building for the past few winters. They've been excellent and their pricing is reasonable compared to others. Ask for Mike Lynch. His contact info is: mlynch7734@hotmail.com or 708.655.7667.

We deserve more from Commissioner Bridget Gainer

4 Cook County Board members missed 25% or more meetings in past 5 years: survey
Cook County Board members have missed hundreds of meetings in the past five years, an investigation by the Chicago Sun-Times and ABC7 Chicago's I-Team has found - with four county commissioners absent at least a quarter of the time. Commissioner Bridget Gainer had the worst attendance record, records show.

Calling on Chicago to provide 2200K PC AMBER LED Streetlight Test Block

Chicago is in the process, like many cities around the world, of replacing our streetlights with blue-rich white LED's (BRWL's). At 3000K these lights are at the absolute highest end of what the AMA has deemed safe. Blue spectrum light at night (270,000 streetlights in Chicago) will affect the health and circadian rhythms of people, plants and animals by creating 24 hours of daylight. At 3000K these lights are at the absolute highest end of what the AMA has deemed safe. Blue spectrum light at night (270,000 streetlights in Chicago) will affect the health and circadian rhythms of people, plants and animals by creating 24 hours of daylight. IMHO, these lights are not only unsafe they are ugly and painful to look at, just like the new LED headlights...too bright and too glaring. They will make our city look like the frozen food aisle at Aldi, or at best, a Night Game. Chicago owes it to its tax payers, who will shell out $700 per light, to at least set up one test street with 2200K PC Amber LED's. If you would like to see such a test street, please let your Aldermen know. This is a four year roll out and changes can be made before it’s too late. If you would like to view or join our FB Group, please feel welcome. Thank you.

Starting to be heard?? This is hardly a new issue.
The one point that public policy analysts agree upon is that there is far too little research on the issue in order to make an informed scientific based policy. I realize that not everyone understands how scholarship works but established science is not a function of a few dozen studies that include numerous qualifiers and limitations.
Let’s invest in the best research that money can buy. Large scale studies which address ALL of the implications of this issue are a must.
This thread has included claims that can’t possibly be addressed by simply changing the kind of lighting we are going to be using in Chicago.
The focus of good policy needs to be narrow otherwise you are begging someone to ask you to produce the evidence for any other claims you are making. Ignoring the rules that govern public policy is not going to make them go away. It’s only going to make your agenda harder to realize.

Vicki, does there happen to be a website as well? I'm not a FBer. Thanks and happy holidays!
PS: I'm visiting out of town for the holidays and this same issue and ire over the nasty bright blue lights came up (completely unsolicited by me). People far and wide dislike these things for aesthetic reasons, if nothing else!
