Trash littered streets

Hi neighbors,
I bought a home in the 60620 zip code two years ago. Since then every day I am out picking up the bottles, cans and assorted garbage people throw out of their car windows. I even walk across the street and pick up the garbage because it looks so bad. I don't understand this. I came from another part of the city and I never saw this being done. Is every block experiencing this?

  • MEG Neighbor

    Hello All
I too have been cleaning my block since I’ve been on it (2014) but I don’t mind. I did it at my other residence. But, it that instance quite a few neighbors pitched it. People love to litter but I can’t tell you why. I will continue to keep my block clean. The neighborhood is great with both blue and white collared workers and retirees. Few bad apples everywhere. Enjoy your block and your new home.

  • Nadia RN MSN

    Hi Myra and everyone,
Yes, maybe people do like to litter. I never thought about it from that perspective.
I will continue to be out there picking up litter. It doesn't take but a few minutes and it is my way of helping the block look nice. Thank you, I am enjoying my new home.

I don’t think it’s hopeless Unless we stay on this course. But, this is not my accident....this is Gentrification at its best. And nobody talks about it...this crime and other foolishness is not as hard too stop as they make it out to be....but, it’s part of the game.
It’s the under play for the over play.🤔
Nonetheless, hope to get too know you caring people and really make a change...it’s very possible.✊🏿

Chicago Public Health Clinic closes Englewood Office

On January 13 the city of Chicago quietly closed its health clinic in Englewood, which provided free testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STD).

I'm trying to figure out why the city would close a clinic in a neighborhood that had the highest STD infection rate (in Chicago) from 2009 to 2016, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control & Prevention. Hopefully by the time I am finishing working on this story I will have some answers for tax payers.

The scary part is that many infected people may now go untreated rather than seek treatment elsewhere especially those "repeat offenders."

  • MrC Back in the saddle serving a new community

Appreciate you Bro. Hutson. Much needed information. It's high time we get together and establish a free clinic of our own, to meet the needs of our community. Da*n the city. Especially since they feel likewise toward our community.
