Thank you Maggie and Katie for finding my Mothers dog

My 85 year old mothers beagle got out of the yard and thanks to Katie and Maggie and i do hope i got your names right, Cuddles was found and got her back to her panic stricken owner.
You phoned and i met you about noon today near Chicago Ave and Western Ave.
I could not chat and truly express my thanks for my 85 yr old mother on the snowy icy sidewalks searching and in a panic.
You offered a lift but living a block away the ride would have been too round about.
I just want to say THANKS

  • Hi Karen,

    Hi Karen,
Katie and I were happy to help out your family get Cuddles back safe and sound. She was such a sweet dog that we both knew someone had to be looking for her. We're both dog lovers so we're glad to know that she wasn't hurt in traffic and that she was returned to her home without harm. Funny story actually, I've been thinking about getting a dog for a couple months now. I took finding Cuddles as a sign that I should get one myself so Katie and I went out and adopted a dog later that day. All in all, I should be thanking you (or Cuddles) because without this incident I probably would not have adopted my new Bernese Mountain Dog, Lucy!

Hope you and your family are doing well and Cuddles is staying out of trouble. Thank you!

Review: Tempesta Market making some of Chicago's best sandwiches
Everything about Tempesta Market in West Town packs a punch. The shop has room for only a deli counter, a couple of refrigerated cases of food and a few tables, but the owners have stuffed it to the breaking point with a staggering amount of meat, cheese, gelato and other goods.

  • Outlaw leaving packages? We can't even enforce the illegality of bold face shooting someone dead in broad daylight. Good luck with that one. Merry Christmas to all and peace on earth (especially Chicago) and goodwill to all.

  • This is both sad and frustrating. Consider these solutions...I saw that Walgreens was accepting FedEx packages for customers. Amazon has locations where you can have them delivered. There may be other options like that available at no additional cost. I started having packages delivered to my office but I can see where that might not work well. Letting anything over the size of an envelope be delivered to your mailbox is really risky. Hope this helps.

Why You May Want to Make Year-End Charitable Donations

As many people are debating prepaying their property taxes, you may also want to look at making charitable contributions before the end of the year.

Why You May Want to Make Year-End Charitable Donations
The new tax law has been forecasted to result in $21 billion less in charitable giving in the coming year. As an estimated, 95% of Americans will now take the standard deduction rather than itemize, few will see a tax advantage for charitable giving in the coming years.

How the 20% Pass-Through Income Deduction may Affect You

The new tax bill has many trying to understand how the 20% deduction applies to pass-through income and whether it affects them. Before making any changes, understand the deduction and speak to a tax professional to determine if it can be beneficial to you.

https://illinoisestateplanning.blogspot.com/2017/12/the-new-20-deduction-on-pass-through.html

The New 20% Deduction on Pass-Through income, What is It? And does it affect you?
There are many intricacies of the new Tax Act that will be discussed and analyzed over the coming weeks and months. While some of the changes will allow for a tax reduction for "pass-through" entities, the complexities of the tax bill should be discussed with your tax advisor to make sure you understand how it affects you before you make any significant financial or employment changes.

Anyone else hear gunfire near Chicago and Richmond at about 3:40am on Sunday?

It sounded like 5 or 6 shots. Called 911 and did see a patrol vehicle, but the police must not have seen anything unusual.
