Volunteer English (ESL) Literacy Tutors Needed!

Help adults learn English at Aquinas Literacy Center!
Volunteer as a one-on-one tutor for just 90 minutes a week at 1751 West 35th Street on the southwest side of Chicago. All tutoring is in English, so you don't have to speak another language to volunteer. Volunteer tutoring opportunities are 9am-8pm, Monday-Thursday.
Join us for our next tutor training workshop: Friday, January 26 (6pm to 9pm) and Saturday, January 27 (9am to 4pm). Attendance on both days is required to begin as a tutor. 13-year-old boy reported missing from Southwest Side

Tony Thompson, 13, was last seen Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, and is missing from the 5200 block of South Justine Street, according to Chicago police.

Name released of man shot dead by concealed carry permit holder

Jermaine Marshall, of the 4900 block of South Loomis Street, died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot shared by Target and Fifth Third Bank in the 1900 block of West 33rd Street in the McKinley Park, police said.

Witnesses told police silver Nissan fled the scene after shots were fired, a source said. Officers stopped a car matching that description as it returned to the scene in the 3300 block of South Damen Avenue, according to the source.
