Override Rauner's repeal of gun shop licensing law

Tomorrow, the Illinois House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the Gun Dealer Licensing Act — an important public safety bill that Governor Rauner recently vetoed. Ahead of the hearing they're collecting "Witness Slips" — which are basically signatures in support of or in opposition to the bill.

Follow the instructions below to submit your witness slip and help us get over the top.

We have a fighting chance of overriding Governor Rauner's veto of a bill that passed the General Assembly with bipartisan support — but it's going to take each of us speaking out to fight back against the gun lobby's dangerous agenda.

Thanks for being a committed member of the movement!

  • Bob, still no comment on the poll results?

At least you gave up on the uncorroborated assertion that less guns would result in less crimes and less shootings when challenged to produce evidence, data, proof to support your unsubstantiated errant opinion.

Diversion duly noted. Why do you not realize that the topic of speed limits is irrelevant to the conversation? When are you going to get back on topic Bob or, if you'll pardon the expression, have you run out of ammunition? See what happens when you impose limits on magazine capacity ;^)

  • Bob, by fighting a losing battle, I meant you personally You are convincing no one, are losing the argument, and painting a self-portrait of a fool As concerns your links, I can and have posted links that refute links you have posted time and time again. Perhaps you should start a new thread. You're good at that. Allow me to suggest a title ... Bob Kastigar's Gun Control Propaganda Page.

N.R.A. ???????

What's going on with the N.R.A. not supporting the idea of raising the age to 21 to purchase assault weapons and banning bump stocks . I've always been a supporter of the N.R.A. but not on this issue . They really need to rethink their decision and make the right decision on this very important proposal . I'm all for guns in the hands of properly trained American citizens who choose to own and carry one responsibly . It just...

I've always been a supporter of the N.R.A. but not on this issue . They really need to rethink their decision and make the right decision on this very important proposal . I'm all for guns in the hands of properly trained American citizens who choose to own and carry one responsibly . It just blows my mind to hear the N.R.A. is against this proposal .Common sense alone should dictate the need for this very simple and needed law to be changed. The N.R.A. has done a lot of good work to protect our constitutional right to own a firearm . If you are an N.R.A. member please speak up on this proposal and let's do the right thing . I understand their position on giving up anything as it may show a sign of weakness on their part, but they need to take a good look at the faces of the Florida victims and all the others killed by these guns that are so easy to obtain. This is a very important proposal that must be passed into law. The N.R.A. is a very powerful organization that donates big $$$$ to politicians, lets see who joins this fight and who doesn't . As a voter I'll be watching .

Rob, this is no joke. I understand that you hate me because I don't like Joe Moore but put that aside. Do you realize that right now some crazy guy (or a combo crazy/Trump hater like the D.C. shooter) is craving the attention that Nikolas Cruz got? Don't you agree...

If the FBI has some suspects, they need to send SWAT teams ASAP.
And we need to protect ourselves and our loved ones. We need security in schools, churches, little league games, movie theaters, malls, etc.
    Do you agree? Answer, please.

That church shooter recently (Texas?). If the USAF had properly notified the correct authorities, he would not have been able to purchase a gun. At least not legally.

Private sales/purchases are problematic. And gun show purchases seem to be as well.

This new Death Wish movie (Bruce Willis reprising the Charles Bronson role) may lead to some interesting discussion. If discourse is even possible any more.

May be good for business for your CCL training!

Frankly, I think 90% (maybe more) of the general non-criminal population would be unable to kill even in self defense. That number may be closer to 50-75% of legal gun owners.

Which is a good thing. I’d imagine (and hope to never know) that taking a life, even for the most noble purposes (e.g., protecting your kids) would be a traumatic experience with lingering ramifications.
