looking for house cleaner when we travel - only for messy cats

does anyone know or have you ever heard of a house cleaner / pet sitter who specializes in daily visits to a house with pets in order to keep it relatively clean? we are looking for someone to take care of our cats' 'business' while we are away. unfortunately, this can often be outside the box or other places out of revolt. we don't need a standard sitter to visit with them (they won't come out) or feed them (they have an auto-feeder); we just need someone to keep the house clean solely of their output.

I know a pro. She works as a groomer and dog walker. Trustworthy, with cats of her own.

sounds like a big job depending how many cats you have and how many places they tend to defile every 24 hours---but i'd be up for it

Affordable housing in the Far Northwest Side: A tale of two projects
The economic bustle in and around O'Hare International Airport yields a strong job market for working-class Chicagoans, a market that's only going to get stronger when O'Hare's long-awaited expansion starts. Plenty of mass transit, including the Blue Line and an array of CTA bus routes, connects Far Northwest Side neighborhoods with the rest of the city.

Has anyone else been bothered by the noise of a rooster crowing all day long in the area? I don't know precisely where this rooster is located, but it's pretty much driving me crazy just as would the sound of an incessantly barking dog. I have no problem with people owning roosters or chickens in the city, but there needs to be some consideration for the noise, and I believe there are humane and inexpensive ways to reduce the noise a rooster is able to make.

I don't want to call the police, because they have much more important things to be dealing with than a silly rooster, but has anyone else been bothered by this? I'd be more than happy to help it's owner make a rooster collar for it, if they were willing.

Any advice or guidance for dealing with something like this would be appreciated.

  • So the rooster isnt crowing

    Its screaming for help

  • CL

I believe the ordinance is that an officer has to witness the noise or you have to collect signatures from three neighbors confirming the nuisance. I can’t imagine getting three signatures would be a problem, I just have no idea what to do with them. I guess take them and file a report with the police?

Chicago Tribune InsideShopper Paper Unsubscribe

Hey,

I've been getting this newspaper weekly with coupons: "Chicago Tribune InsideShopper". There is number and email on it if I want to cancel it, but when I called the number I got a survey, then it hung up. When I emailed them, it got kicked back. I called Chicago Tribune and someone told me they would stop sending to me, but it's still coming. Any ideas on how to stop this garbage from being left on my property?

Thanks.

  • Bob, most retailers that print ads has them available in-store; if they're not in a rack near the entrance, ask at the service desk.
*probably more reliable than trying to get on or off the weekly shopper route.

  • Bob

NW-Sider-Yes, thanks for your replies. Appreciated!

LaBagh Woods offers great recreational, aesthetic and ecological value to the people of Chicago, and serves as a habitat for migratory birds and diverse wildlife. The privately owned, wooded property at 4357 W Bryn Mawr is a seamless addition to the forest preserve and contributes to the quality of life and property values that the families of Sauganash and neighboring communities enjoy.

We were dismayed to learn that in spite of strong community opposition, the City Council voted to rezone this land from POS-1 (Regional or Community Park) to RS-1. This will allow developers to strip this land of its trees and wildlife in order to construct single family homes.

We believe that to divest the people of Chicago of even a single parcel of forested land should be as unthinkable as privatizing a stretch of the lakefront. The parcel in question, though privately owned, provides great value to the community and the region as undeveloped open space. We therefore ask that you sign this petition to express your concern and opposition to development at this location. We further ask that you reach out to your elected City and County officials to voice your opposition to the development, and urge them to work with the community and the owner of the parcel to reach an equitable compromise.

Napolitano: From Pro-Publica Illinois:https://www.propublica.org/article/illinois-policy-institute-northwest-chicago-affordable-housing
Amid Affordable Housing Dispute, Conservatives Seek a Home in Chicago

Groups tied to Illinois Policy Institute and talk show host Dan Proft back GOP candidates on city’s Northwest Side.(Excerpts):"Starting with the 2012 elections, some institute leaders began funding campaigns after a series of transactions involving other organizations and political action committees they formed, records show."

"The Illinois Opportunity Project, in turn, poured more than $1.7 million into political campaigns and committees across the state, according to election board records. "..."Some of the money from the Illinois Opportunity Project went to a pair of Northwest Side candidates for the Chicago City Council in 2015. John Garrido, a Chicago police officer running for alderman of the city’s 45th Ward, received $2,000, while Anthony Napolitano, a former police officer and firefighter vying to be 41st Ward alderman, got $3,000."..."In 2016, the Illinois Opportunity Project also loaned $325,000 to Liberty Principles, a political action committee founded and run by Proft. Liberty Principles spent more than $10.5 million in races across the state in 2015 and 2016, including about $118,000 backing Garrido. Proft didn’t respond to a request for comment. The 2015 results were mixed. In the 41st Ward, Napolitano upset an ally of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s. But for the second time in four years, Garrido lost to John Arena, a self-described progressive who received significant backing from unions and liberal donors."

Our Nation grieves with those affected by the shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas. May God heal the injured and may God comfort the wounded, and may God be with the victims and with the victims’ families. As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence perpetrated on May 18, 2018, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, May 22, 2018. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-second.

  • Beezil dear....I don't proclaim my knowledge....it's not necessary for anybody to do so.....over and out.

  • ...and for clarification, my "moniker" is related to my former role as a block club president for 2.5 years. So, "Statute Informed?" Yes, I know city statutes and many I have downloaded. That's a necessity when you're dealing with building owners, complaining residents, businesses, construction crews, 250 club members, etc. If one needs info, then it's good to be able to direct him/her to the source.
