Lincolnwood Town Center

Growing up in West Rogers Park. I used to love going to the Lincolnwood Town Center. But over the years, the quality of stores have downgraded and there is a lot of empty storefronts.

Let's petition the mall management group that the community will support it's efforts to rebrand itself and bring back the community's pride in our mall!

Let's come together to make the Lincolnwood Town Center great again ;-)

All candidates have been invited, but as of now, three of the four candidates have responded they will be participating in the forum: Caroline McAteer-Fournier, Ira Silverstein, and Ram Villivalam.

There are many important issues which confront residents and the State of Illinois covering economic development, education, taxation and revenue, the environment, healthcare, gun control and other topics which each candidate will be asked to address. If you have concerns about these issues then attend this forum and learn what these candidates say about them and what they propose to do as your State senator. Adequate time will be provided at the end of the set questions for written questions from the audience before the candidate’s closing remarks are given.

About Mick Dumke: Mick is a reporter for ProPublica Illinois. He joined ProPublica after two years on the Watchdogs team at the Chicago Sun-Times. Before that, he spent almost a decade as a politics writer and editor for the Chicago Reader.

Ahmed, there is a minor error in your post. West Ridge is not entirely in the 8th Senate District. Heather Steans, represents the 7th district, which includes a small section west of Ridge over to Western and from Howard down to Touhy.

  • Ahmed Khan 50th Ward Resident

Helen NoH: That's true. There is a small part in the 7th. I copied the text right off of the Facebook page. I'll have it edited there. Thanks for catching that. But the sizable majority nonetheless! Hope people come out.

I hope you have a successful forum and that folks aren't kept at home by the snow.

noise violation or inconsiderate actions

My next door neighbor hired a new company to clear her snow. Last night/this morning they showed up at 4:15am with a gas snow blower and used it to clear her entire driveway, (from sidewalk to garage in the back of her property) right under our bedroom windows, waking my entire family (and probably other neighbors).

I called her at 4:30am and left a voice message saying this was unacceptable.

Isn't there a rule about using fuel powered equipment before 8am in Chicago?

  • Chitowngal - She probably wouldn't have answered the doorbell because she couldn't hear it...over the sound of the snowblower. :^)

Jason, thanks for the link. I'll have it printed and ready to use if it happens again.

Now if we could get the owners who never shovel their snow to make arrangements that would be nice. They know they are slacking in responsibilities, but don't care. Some other neighbors try to help by shoveling a path for the mail carrier and others to get through, but it's barely enough. I bet this happen on every block. I try to be a good neighbor and not report to 311, but sometimes it's a one sided ungrateful relationship.

Jason, I wish I had a buck for every garbage truck I've seen tooling around the neighborhood well before 7 AM.

Last month, when someone inquired about cabbing it to OHare, others suggested a bus
while admitting it took quite awhile.
Apparently there soon will be a faster bus option.

Chicago's debt: $45,200 per taxpayer

https://www.truthinaccounting.org/news/detail/financial-state-of-the-cities-2016#75 city ranking (in order)
We don't have enough money to pay our bills--only NY is worse.

Financial State of the Cities 2016
TIA believes it is imperative to provide an honest accounting of each city's financial condition. Therefore, we developed a sophisticated model to analyze all the assets and liabilities of the nation's 75 most populous cities, including unreported liabilities. This is the second year TIA has released an annual FSOC study, documenting the truth about each city's financial position.
