I've been having a problem with my neighbor. He uses his truck to save parking for other of his 3 cars. He has managed to own 3 spots in front of the fire hydrant for more than 6 months now. Its a family of 4 with 4 cars. The truck is only used to save parking for 3 spots right in front of their apartment building. He uses the truck and another car to save a spot for the third and keep alternating through out the week. Every morning is the same routine. One of the 3rd car pulls out and the truck is moved forward with another car moved backward saving a spot in the middle. Leaving the 4th car to be used throughout the day. What to do? its driving me crazy!

I find this to be an old white person trait. My father was one of these jerks. I think it originated before permit parking came about. He had multiple vehicles and a garage full of junk. He finally moved outta state where he had the room for all his junk and no longer needs city property to store it. I have a couple ex boyfriends parents do the same thing. Aquire multiple vehicles junk up their garages think they own the spot in front of their house cuz they pay taxes. Annoying.

Second Biggest Story of 2018: Will There Be a Luxury Condominium Glut?

Looking For a Buyer Since 2012: A 5-Bedroom SFH at 1652 N. Bell in Bucktown December 19, 2017

This article has 5 other Chicago locations (Show)

They range from a 14 story luxury tower at Huron and Dearborn to the 94 story Vista Tower on Wacker Drive in Lakeshore East.

One Bennett Place at 451 E. Grand: 69 stories with 400 apartments and 100 luxury condominiums currently under construction. I haven’t found any recent update on condo sales.

Vista Tower at 363 E. Wacker Drive: tallest of the three towers is 94 stories. According to Curbed, as of November 21, 2017, the developer said 40% of the 406 condominiums were under contract. These are priced from $1 to $18 million. It will also have a 200 room hotel.

56 W. Huron: 10 full floor residences and one duplex penthouse priced from $1.375 million to $3.99 million for the penthouse. This building is now under construction. The building’s website indicates that 2 of the units have been sold. You can see all the details here.

Second Biggest Story of 2018: Will There Be a Luxury Condominium Glut?
Construction continues on luxury housing in Chicago, with several new luxury condominium buildings announced last year. There are so many, I can't even keep up with them while they are under construction. Curbed recently put together a nice list of 47 buildings over 100 feet that are under construction in Chicago (these are not all condo buildings).

Key Found Hoyne/Dickens

I happened upon a lost key by the first tree north of Dickens, west of Hoyne. I left it visible on the tree root. It had ice on it so it was probably dropped awhile ago, maybe last night. It was difficult to see making it easy to miss if someone backtracked for it. Hopefully whoever lost this didn't get locked out in the cold.

  • Outlaw leaving packages? We can't even enforce the illegality of bold face shooting someone dead in broad daylight. Good luck with that one. Merry Christmas to all and peace on earth (especially Chicago) and goodwill to all.

  • This is both sad and frustrating. Consider these solutions...I saw that Walgreens was accepting FedEx packages for customers. Amazon has locations where you can have them delivered. There may be other options like that available at no additional cost. I started having packages delivered to my office but I can see where that might not work well. Letting anything over the size of an envelope be delivered to your mailbox is really risky. Hope this helps.

The best things to do in Chicago on New Year's Eve

Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers Power into the New Year fueled by tacos and 3 Floyds beer at Big Star (1531 N. Damen). DJs spin both hard metal and oldies by the likes of Hank Williams. Knock back a shot of bourbon at midnight, because champagne is for the weak. 6 PM, free

A Night of Witchcraft and Wizardry This party at the Laboratory (2349 W. North) begins by sorting attendees into “houses” a la Harry Potter, which then compete with each other using the magic of science! Watch out for explosions other than the midnight fireworks outside. 6:45 PM, $40

New Year’s Eve Dance Party At Uncommon Ground (3800 N. Clark), DJ My Boy Elroy herds drunks onto the dance floor while others scarf down food...

How the 20% Pass-Through Income Deduction may Affect You

The new tax bill has many trying to understand how the 20% deduction applies to pass-through income and whether it affects them. Before making any changes to become a sole proprietor, understand the deduction and speak to a tax professional to determine if it can be beneficial to you.

https://illinoisestateplanning.blogspot.com/2017/12/the-new-20-deduction-on-pass-through.html

The New 20% Deduction on Pass-Through income, What is It? And does it affect you?
There are many intricacies of the new Tax Act that will be discussed and analyzed over the coming weeks and months. While some of the changes will allow for a tax reduction for "pass-through" entities, the complexities of the tax bill should be discussed with your tax advisor to make sure you understand how it affects you before you make any significant financial or employment changes.
    http://illinoisestateplanning.blogspot.com
  • Is the 20% credit on pass throughs a permanent deduction or does it expire at some point?

  • It is currently set to expire with the individual tax rates after 2025. Although the entire tax bill can be changed with the passage of any new laws.

  • Thanks Bryan! It was also helpfull to know that it is a "below the line" after AGI deduction... I assume a new line on page 2. I looked everywhere for that info and it was/is hard to come by. I even tried reading the bill, but it was like trying to read mandarin, or maybe klingon!
