Swastikas at Kilbourn Park

Hello,

It deeply saddens to me to notify everyone that on Sunday June 17 a number of swastika, white nationalist, anti refugee, and generally hateful stickers with razor blades hidden underneath were found at and around Kilbourn Park.

Hello,

It deeply saddens to me to notify everyone that on Sunday June 17 a number of swastika, white nationalist, anti refugee, and generally hateful stickers with razor blades hidden underneath were found at and around Kilbourn Park.

Majority of these were removed by community members and myself in the presence of police officers. Over TEN razor blades were located under the stickers, so that should anyone attempt to remove these stickers, the potential for harm was present. These were within the playground perimeter as well.

Police have asked that if more stickers of this nature are found to please call Area North headquarters at (312) 744-8263 with the location of the stickers and state that you are calling to report more stickers of a hateful nature to add to the already existing report from Kilbourn park on 6/17/18.

At this time they requested that they not be removed so that an officer may come evidence the sticker and potentially collect prints.

Currently, there are still stickers within the park that have not been removed and I intend to call the authorities today to inquire why they have not been taken down. Additionally, municipal stop signs at Kenneth and Roscoe still have stickers as well as a pedestrian yield sign at 3342 Kostner.

Thank you for your attention and awareness of this event.

Rest In Peace

For the cat I called Buddy who was TNRd and then abandoned by his "caretaker" I want to tell people that you will be missed and you were loved.

I was feeding him and the other abandoned cats that were left behind. On Saturday some neighbors told me different versions of the same story about a cat being killed in the street. I have since come to believe it was Buddy. No one else may have cared but I am terribly sad and it is a shame that he died like this.

Rest in peace Buddy. You deserved better.

Thank you Leslie. I wish I had a picture of him. I don't consider I made his life better at all. All I did was feed him and talk to him. He deserved much better. I believe all animals (like children) deserve loving homes. In a perfect world, right, I know. I am still feeding the others except now I am not seeing them. I know they know he is gone. That is another part of this that is staying with me. They lost a family member and I can never undo that for them. At least now people can read this post and know that a cat who seemingly had no one who cared did have someone who cared, and any unfortunate mistreated animal out there should have at least that.

Rooster

My mother saw a rooster (YES a rooster) on Belden and Marmora this morning. She didn't tell me until now so I have no idea what might have happened since then. If you live in that area or know someone who does, and see the ROOSTER, please call Chicago Bird Collision Monitors. The number is 773 988 1867. Thank you.

  • My hope was that a person in the area could call and have it rescued. I had one rescued from Walgreens at Fullerton and Central some years ago. Pet or not it doesn't belong walking around on the streets of Chicago, the same as with any other pet.

Maybe the bird is the owners moneymaket.
