Looking for year round babysitter

Hello! My husband and I are seeking a sitter for our two daughters, a 4 year-old and 1 year-old. Ideally, our sitter would be able to work 8-10 hours per week; preferred days are Wednesdays and then either Tuesday or Thursday, timeframe flexibly around 3-7PM. Any reccomendayions would be awesome. Summer only need not apply. 15/hr.

In Home Daycare Hermosa/Logan/Humboldt

Hello! I am near Armitage and Pulaski and am looking for infant care at an in home daycare. Does anyone know of anything affordable nearby that they would recommend? Would love a Spanish speaking program but my significant other doesn’t speak much Spanish so having a care provider who can speak some English would be desirable for when he picks up/drops off.

  • I highly recommend Drops of Wisdom daycare. My son started there when he was 12 weeks and still goes after school (he's in kindergarten). They are near Diversey and Kostner and are bilingual.

  • catlady for the love of cats, lets get along!

on Pulaski south of Armitage before Cortland there is a home day care.

  • My kids go to Pillows Cove Learning Center near Palmer and Kostner. They each started there at 12 weeks. The women who run it are so wonderful, caring, and communicative. They are not Spanish speaking.

They used to be called Caterpillar Cove, but it was too similar to another daycare in town so they had to change it. Here is their website under the old name: http://caterpillarcoveinc.com/

In-home Daycare Options?

Hi! My husband and I are expecting a baby come later this summer, and are starting the search for daycare options. Ideally, looking for a smaller/intimate in-home daycare option. Does anyone have recommendations for great places, or recommendations for places to stay away from?

Thanks in advance!

RECOMMENDATION? Local Podiatrist specializing in Plantar Fasciitis?

Do any of you have any podiatrists, chiros, doctors you would recommend for treatment of Plantar Fasciitis? Definitely do not want to get a shot ... so looking for any success stories.

This hit me hard last summer and was devastating. Will share things that helped me. Every situation is different:

Stretch calves, hamstrings, and strengthen hips!

Stair step stretch: hang heel off step, drop heel - hold for about 30 seconds. Do that 3x a day. Or more.

Sitting down, cross leg over knee, rest calf on knee of other leg.
    breaks up calf tightness.

    Runners stretches.

Downward dog yoga helps stretch hamstrings.

Strengthen hips (lay on side and do leg lifts).

Roll foot hard on rolling pin, tennis ball, or frozen water bottle. (bottle wasn’t hard enough for me, but that is one doc had me do.)

Frequent Ice packs (AFTER stretching) Do not stretch after icing.

THE MAIN THING: BUY GOOD QUALITY OVER THE COUNTER ARCH SUPPORTS!
One of the most helpful to me was one of the least costly:
HealThatPain.com (silicone type of insert) - GREAT.
I double them up with SuperFeet inserts in good running shoes.

SuperFeet inserts are great. They come in many forms - go to a good running shoe store such as Fleet Feet. They help choose right one for you, and will trim and bevel the insert to fit your shoes.

Gel heel cushions. Doubled up with the SuperFeet inserts.

Another insert brand: PowerStep - the 3/4 leather dress shoe inserts are very good. comfy.

Wear the most comfortable shoes possible, with a pair of inserts for all shoes.

ALWAYS wear shoes - put bedside, and the moment your foot hits the floor they should be in shoes.

    Hope this helps!

  • Great tips, mbma, especially about the hips and Fleet Feet, thanks for sharing!
