Question about the carjackings

It seems that we have tens of carjackings every week. Got me thinking. What is this doing to the car insurance costs in Chicago? And can the victims whose cars get totalled sue the thieves direct or does the insurance sue the thieves?

  • Oftentimes the vehicle is recovered undamaged.

  • insurance costs are going to go up, the insurance actuaries will analyze the claims paid, and adjust premiums accordingly, hey crime ain't free. and don't forget, you get to absorb your deductible.

don't forget, that thanks to sheriff dart and sa kim foxx, all these pos's when caught are going to get a personal no money bond and be on the street without delay to reck more havoc.

CHICAGO - Residents of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood should be on guard after reports of three separate muggings that occurred in just 15 minutes Wednesday night.
The first robbery happened around 7:30 p.m. near West Buena and North Clarendon avenues. The victim said four males attacked him and ran east, toward Marine Drive.
Right after that, another man was reportedly beaten up and robbed in the 700-block of West Bittersweet Place.
Minutes later, the group reportedly beat a 50-year-old man to the ground, but he was not robbed. The attackers ran north on Clarendon. The victim was treated at a hospital.
There is surveillance video of one of the violent attacks. The robbers appear to be between 15-18 years old.
I have been in contact with the investigating officers of these incidents.
As I have recording cameras surrounding my estate on Hutchinson and Clarendon,
I will check to see if there is anything that can be helpful to police. I have reported this information to the police.

  • Mute Mute Me

" I'm not sure why this keeps happening"

what has changed that would stop it from happening?

"My friend and his pregnant wife have a condo in that exact area, and I do worry about their safety"

im not sure if a pregnant woman would be seen as an easy target or just the opposite since if caught there are added charges.

why would anyone want to raise children in that area? Hopefully they dont plan to stay long!

  • DEAR ALL:
Concerning the rampage of muggings November 8th, I received a call last night from the lead detective: one of the 4 criminals is in custody. The CPD is now interviewing the suspect to turn in the other 3 which I am confident he will in exchange for reduced charges. So this good news to enhance safety for our neighborhood.

HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING MY FRIENDS !!

Rock Engravings of Dogs on Leashes Show Pre-Neolithic Good Boys
A new study of prehistoric rock art reveals how hunters in the Arabian Peninsula pursued prey with dogs over 8,000 years ago - and even controlled their packs with leashes. The engravings represent the earliest evidence for dogs on the Arabian Peninsula and might even stand as the earliest depictions of canines yet, as Science first reported.

I think they and the States’ Attorneys and defense attorneys all know about it.

Again, I haven’t researched it. But I doubt anyone has even qualified for those 3 strikes. Meaning nobody has had two prior, separate convictions for the heinous felonies listed and folllowed it up with another such conviction. I’d assume any of the felonies would have resulted in perhaps a 25-year sentence. Two of those would be 50 years. Assuming the person was 18 at the first conviction, and there were only 2 years between the first release and the second conviction. That’d leave you with a 70-year-old needing to commit another heinous crime.

It needs to be a broader list of what felonies count as “strikes.” And a system that doesn’t use those strikes to pressure perps into pleading to lesser crimes to avoid a strike.

Ravenswood and Irving Park

Hi all, the police and fire department just shut down Ravenswood north of Irving Park Rd (9:15pm Tuesday 11/14) anyone know why?

  • There was a fire in the uniform company in the 4100 block of Ravenswood.

  • I left 4043 Ravenswood at around 10 and saw four ambulances, two fire trucks, and the police car blocking Ravenswood at Irving. Its odd that something calling for that kind of response wasn't covered in the media.

So you think they would have had police stationed at 11am in front of this daycare if it werent for the mayor and alderman?

I dont remember daycares at 11am being hotspots for police before this current alderperson or mayor.

  • no, of course not. I agree with Li's first comment "police on every corner." assigning police to "stations" is probably as ineffective as those blue light cameras the tax payers spent and continue to spend millions for.

but I do think having a city with an appropriately sized, renowned and effective police department would have both an active and deterrent effect on every category of crime.

COYOTE

Holy Sh*t, I'm standing last night on my porch around 10:45pm having my drinks before heading downtown to Gibson's, and this huge animal which I later learn to be a coyote, zipped at 100mph past my house east on Hutchinson.
Unreal.

  • My sister saw that dude by the PNC bank a few months back. Got a good picture of him.
