Shooting around 10:50pm Monday

We heard gun fire near Kimball and Montrose. I believe someone was shot on the 4400 block of N. Bernard. Does anyone have any details about this incident?

Internet Service Providers

Moving to Albany Park from Rogers Park next week and need to get internet setup. What Internet Service Providers do you use? I currently have RCN and am sad that it is not available in my new area. I've already checked with AT&T and they can only provide 10MBPS. I need at least 50MBPS. Thank you.

  • We’ve had xfinity for several years w/o problems - except you do have to threaten to cancel every year or two

  • See if AT&T fiber is available at your new location. It's $80 a month, no taxes or fees. It's internet only but then you can get subsribe to Hulu, Netflix, YouTube TV and Amazon Prime TV etc. Won't need dish or cable.

I have fiber and normally get 800mbps upload and download speeds, makes other providers feel like 4800 baud modem from 1980's.

Outstanding Nanny Available

My nanny of 2 years will be available starting in June. I am the mother of 5 and a former educator with high standards. Our nanny is wonderful. She also helps with light housekeeping. Her primary language is Spanish, but she communicates well using Google Translate. My youngest son is bilingual because of his fantastic nanny. In the 2 years she has worked for me she missed only 2 days of work do to illness. She is extremely reliable, trust worthy, punctual, loving and patient. I am happy to introduce her to a new family.

Help? Anyone know this car?

There was a '85 Toyota 4 Runner with MI plates and a for sale sign in the window parked on Francisco just south of Wilson. Even though it was there for a few days we procrastinated and did not call. The phone number on the sign had a (312) area code. We would love to talk with the owner if it is still for sale.

LaBagh Woods offers great recreational, aesthetic and ecological value to the people of Chicago, and serves as a habitat for migratory birds and diverse wildlife. The privately owned, wooded property at 4357 W Bryn Mawr is a seamless addition to the forest preserve and contributes to the quality of life and property values that the families of Sauganash and neighboring communities enjoy.

We were dismayed to learn that in spite of strong community opposition, the City Council voted to rezone this land from POS-1 (Regional or Community Park) to RS-1. This will allow developers to strip this land of its trees and wildlife in order to construct single family homes.

We believe that to divest the people of Chicago of even a single parcel of forested land should be as unthinkable as privatizing a stretch of the lakefront. The parcel in question, though privately owned, provides great value to the community and the region as undeveloped open space. We therefore ask that you sign this petition to express your concern and opposition to development at this location. We further ask that you reach out to your elected City and County officials to voice your opposition to the development, and urge them to work with the community and the owner of the parcel to reach an equitable compromise.

Greetings My Neighbors,

Memorial Day 2018 is almost upon us and with it comes a hope that you will take some time to remember all of our servicemembers (women and men) who have given the ultimate measure of devotion to our nation. We also remember and provide comfort to their families for whom the pain of the loss of a loved one continues on.

Ready to join with each other to do just this? If so, here are 3 ways you can be part of Memorial Day 2018, right here in our community. If you have questions about any of these, please ask - jac.charlier@gmail.com. I'll be at all three and look forward to seeing you there.

1) Chicago Veterans Ruck March - Friday, May 25 from 9 AM
This 20 mile march (hike) from Glencoe to North Avenue Beach will raise awareness of the 20 veterans who commit suicide everyday. All can march. Adults. Kids. Strollers. Do some or all of the march. No ruck needed. Volunteers welcome. Full information is here: https://chicago.everyblock.com/neighbor-events/may25-chicago-veterans-ruck-march-2018-8596131/

2) North Park Village Flag and Remembrance Ceremony - Sunday, May 27 at 10:45 AM
The names of all servicemembers of families present (any branch, any era) who have passed away will be spoken out loud. They do not need to have died in combat. Full information is here: https://chicago.everyblock.com/neighbor-events/may27-memorial-day-service-north-park-village-8653219/

3) Community Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance - Sunday, May 27 at 1 PM

Our Nation grieves with those affected by the shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas. May God heal the injured and may God comfort the wounded, and may God be with the victims and with the victims’ families. As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence perpetrated on May 18, 2018, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, May 22, 2018. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-second.

  • Beezil dear....I don't proclaim my knowledge....it's not necessary for anybody to do so.....over and out.

  • ...and for clarification, my "moniker" is related to my former role as a block club president for 2.5 years. So, "Statute Informed?" Yes, I know city statutes and many I have downloaded. That's a necessity when you're dealing with building owners, complaining residents, businesses, construction crews, 250 club members, etc. If one needs info, then it's good to be able to direct him/her to the source.

Looking for Kittens

I am trying to find two litters of kittens that mamas have moved! They have been seen on the 5300 blocks of Spaulding and Sawyer. They are both about 4-6 weeks old. If anyone knows where they could be hiding or has a sighting, please text me at 773 898 9899. I will catch them, assure they get into a no-kill shelter, and spay the mama cats so they don't have another litter. Please do not chase them or try to catch them yourself. I have the proper training and equipment.
