35th and indiana

so is anyone going to do something about the heavy drug dealing and homeless that hang out on 35th and indiana. Those people are not homeless cause the street is empty when the drugs run out. I really think the police are scared of these hoodlums. any ideas?

Yes! "Robust community policing and strategic, targeted approaches" - we've got to find a way to make this a reality.

Watkins - great way to lay out the balance needed. Hopefully you got the name or some identification of the officer you mentioned and made a complaint. Letting the Alderman of the beat that officer is on is a good idea also to keep the pressure on. You can tell what beat an officer is on by looking at the number on the top right of the vehicle. Need to get the bad ones out to let the good ones do their job.

Chicken wings are great. The one-time castoff of chicken parts are now a staple item at bars and restaurants. And while wings are often presented the same way - as "buffalo" or "hot wings" - anyone who has winged at multiple venues knows there's a wide spectrum of the actual final taste of said wings.

Why no Venues for Blues, Gospel fest on Southside and Westside

You have venues on Northside and Downtown, what is the deal here? This has to stop, we like entertainment as much as the next person. Are our tax dollars being used to finance others entertainment?

  • Who insulted you, are you being serious? I never once insulted you ... everyone on this thread has been having a completely rational, engaging conversation. We don't always all have to agree with one another, that's a good thing, it's called a dialogue. It's not about holding hands, signing kumbaya and acting like there aren't really tough, interesting conversations to have. Sheesh ....

Ray, I respect your wisdom. I grew up in Bronzeville in the 80s and am glad to be a part of its renaissance now. I make it a point to support our local institutions as do you.

What can I do?

Heard 15-20 shots and saw 5 adult males brandishing guns on the 47 block of Ellis Saturday morning (approx 330am). Called 911 and the operator hung up on me. Do people really not care about the Southside that much???

Without wanting to get political and using buzz words - human trash is human trash - no matter what race, color or creed. I don't have time to get shot, I don't have time to organize another HOA meeting to get our vintage brick siding fixed due to bullet holes, I don't have time to stay home from work in order to wait for the glass/window guy to fix my car window that has been shot out - which is what is going to happen if I can't get law enforcement to do a little preventative maintenance and patrol an area that clearly has an issue. I have reached out to management companies, towing companies, lot owners and I call 911, instead of turning a blind eye (or ear) and pretending it's not my problem. For the love of all good and holy, children live in that building! I've done my due diligence as a human being - what other actionable behavior can I do to get the result (safety) I want?

  • Report it to the news media ... they have clout, and their clout is, they blab it to the general public. They might not do anything about this specific incident, at least they keep tab.

Our filthy public schools at a cost of $259 million a year!

There are so many, many reasons Chicago's one party Lib Democrat rule isn't working. Obscenely expensive government contracts are given to non competitive insiders like

Aramark - a Philadelphia based company. Aramark was recently given get this a

$289 million annual contract for the exclusively rights to clean and do maintenance for Chicago public schools!

That's over 1/4 of a billion $! what kind of job are they doing? Well public schools in Bronzeville failed board of health inspections with rodent infestation, filthy bathrooms etc. https://marathonpundit.blogspot.com/2018/03/rat-droppings-filth-and-bugs-most.html

    Second City Cop
Per CPS rules, anyone who works in a facility has to pass a background check. A background check requires that they submit to a drug test. Sounds like Aramark is skirting rules. What's also interesting is that CPS just got their credit rating upgraded ever so slightly. How does that tie into Aramark?
