Why no Venues for Blues, Gospel fest on Southside and Westside

You have venues on Northside and Downtown, what is the deal here? This has to stop, we like entertainment as much as the next person. Are our tax dollars being used to finance others entertainment?

  • The South Shore Cultural Center has hosted an annual jazz fest for 31 years as well as numerous other cultural events. It's on the south side.

Downtown and the Lakefront are always going to be more desirable for concerts and cultural events than off the lake South Side, West Side etc.

Hell, just look at the Obama Foundation land grab of our Jackson Park! The Obamas don't live in Chicago anymore, Barack just moved here for a bit as a base of operations. The Obamas when they do come to Chicago want to be downtown on the Gold Course or on our South Side Lake front which they are turning in to their private Obamaland complete with a Tiger Woods 18 hole golf course!

This public land worth at least $100 million was given to the Obama Foundation for free!

SO the reality is that the Obama elites and other (mostly) Black AA elites (John Rogers, Desiree Rogers (no relation) Mellony Hopkins etc want the votes of poor Black African Americans on the South and West sides but they don't want to mix with them.

The one great exception is the young start Black AA tennis coach and Tennis entrepreneur Kamal (sp?) Murray who has just completely the largest non profit tennis center in the United States at 54th and State. I've seen it - it is excellent and seems to be run by very competent, no nonsense Black AA women. Good for them.

I am way past disappointed by Chicago's Black AA Lib Dem elite. They seem to all want to live the Oprah life and hang out in posh places in Southern California, Hawaii, Manhattan, Georgetown DC - sure they mouth off about championing the cause of poor oppressed Black African Americans - they just never seem to do anything that works and in their own lives, they painstakingly avoid mixing or even every going to any place where there are poor Black African Americans.

What can I do?

Heard 15-20 shots and saw 5 adult males brandishing guns on the 47 block of Ellis Saturday morning (approx 330am). Called 911 and the operator hung up on me. Do people really not care about the Southside that much???

My own politics is neither Conservatives nor PC Liberal - I like to be open minded, tolerant about many things but not tolerant of violent crime.

Unfortunately the Conservatives who rant and rave about how God awful Liberal Democrats are regarding crime tend to be right when it comes to top Chicago Lib Democrats Rahm, Tonnie P, Kim Fox and Thomas Dart - they take the view that there are simply too many "minorities" (What does that even mean?) in jail and so they simply let street criminals - especially those under the age of 19 get away with robbery, assault, selling hard drugs, carrying illegal guns, even car jackings.

We the law abiding citizens must begin to personally dox these irresponsible Lib Democrat officials or else... call in the Feds.

If local Lib Democrats can't do the basics regarding crime, it's a perfect opportunity for national Republicans, the Trump administration to step in - let's make car jackings, drive by shootings a Federal Hate crime.

Isn't attempted murder of regular citizens very hateful? Or do folks go with the idea that it's only hateful when the police shoot someone or when one is disrespected at Starbucks or some Southerner uses the "N word"

Without wanting to get political and using buzz words - human trash is human trash - no matter what race, color or creed. I don't have time to get shot, I don't have time to organize another HOA meeting to get our vintage brick siding fixed due to bullet holes, I don't have time to stay home from work in order to wait for the glass/window guy to fix my car window that has been shot out - which is what is going to happen if I can't get law enforcement to do a little preventative maintenance and patrol an area that clearly has an issue. I have reached out to management companies, towing companies, lot owners and I call 911, instead of turning a blind eye (or ear) and pretending it's not my problem. For the love of all good and holy, children live in that building! I've done my due diligence as a human being - what other actionable behavior can I do to get the result (safety) I want?

Our filthy public schools at a cost of $259 million a year!

There are so many, many reasons Chicago's one party Lib Democrat rule isn't working. Obscenely expensive government contracts are given to non competitive insiders like

Aramark - a Philadelphia based company. Aramark was recently given get this a

$289 million annual contract for the exclusively rights to clean and do maintenance for Chicago public schools!

That's over 1/4 of a billion $! what kind of job are they doing? Well public schools in Bronzeville failed board of health inspections with rodent infestation, filthy bathrooms etc. https://marathonpundit.blogspot.com/2018/03/rat-droppings-filth-and-bugs-most.html

https://secondcitycop.blogspot.com.tr/2018/04/nice-school-cleaners-rahm.html

    Second City Cop
Per CPS rules, anyone who works in a facility has to pass a background check. A background check requires that they submit to a drug test. Sounds like Aramark is skirting rules. What's also interesting is that CPS just got their credit rating upgraded ever so slightly. How does that tie into Aramark?

Spend Where You Live

I am proposing to Bronzeville residents that for one day out of the week we spend in our community as not only a way to demonstrate our purchasing power, but to contribute to the growth of home buisnesses who thought enough of us to invest with us.

  • We need to start the conversation, reestablishing our community becomes more paramount each day. It seems our welcome has worn out and our dollars are not welcome in certain areas. The answer and only answer is get OUR community back.

  • We are being judged not by the content of our character but by the color of our skin, the time is long past that we readdress establishing our community for our own welfare and salvation and financial growth. Once we start funneling our dollars here in Bronzeville and other predominately African American businesses then we become less dependent and start the process of Wealth building right here.

Car Crashes Into Multiple Parked cars on S Indiana

A car crashed into multiple parked cars around 1 am last night on S Indiana, between 44th & 45th. I heard the sound of the crash but it took a few minutes to realize what had happened. 2 occupants of the car were arguing loudly. Police were called and showed up in 5 minutes. If you live on this block, you might want to check your car!

Hi Neighbors,

In case you weren't aware, you can get FREE trees for your street from the city or working with a non-profit called Openlands. If it’s just one or a few trees then make a request through 311. If your street has open spots for 10+ trees then apply for a grant from Openlands. More details below.

For one or just a few trees, go through the city’s 311 online system (search tree planting) or call 311:

https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/311.html

It takes time for requests to get fulfilled. My request took a couple of years before I got a call and something happened.

When I talked to one of the guys who runs tree planting for the city he said they plant trees based on demand. If no requests are made, no trees get planted. Be specific with your requests. For example, one tree at the curb outside XXXX S Calumet. The number of trees the city plants depends on the budget for the year. If the budget doesn’t cover the full list for the city (typical), then the list rolls over to the next year.

If you have space for 10+ trees then apply for a grant from Openlands:

https://openlands.org/trees/treeplanters-grants/

They will plant on city public land. Public land is considered to be the parkways between the curb and the sidewalk in front of residential houses, CPS school property, and some vacant lots. You need to organize a group of volunteers to help with planting. For example, neighbors, school group, church group, block club, etc.

Last Fall our group of neighbors planted 40 trees on two blocks in the neighborhood. It was a nice neighborhood event and a great way to fill in empty spots along the street that were missing trees.

Make the South Side even more beautiful!

I am once again protesting Everyblock's increasing censorship of perfectly legal, positive posts. I posted a link to the tragic shooting of an unarmed Black AA man in Sacramento CA and noted that it looked like the police acted improperly. I linked to a very positive informational video from FlexYourRights.org providing very practical advice how to avoid and survive hostile police encounters. I also linked to the City Hall protest where the deceased brothers and others through temper tantrums and behaved in inappropriate ways that discredited their legitimate grievances. Why was this censored? This censorship seems to me the same as when Everyblock censored my comments noting that some Simeon High School students ransacked the local Wall Mart in the national walk out protests over gun violence. What happened to our 1st Amendment rights to just suggest that our young people should not riot, loot stores and should try to avoid hostile police encounters by acting in a calm and reasonable way? Do we want our young people to riot - engage in behavior that will lead to very dangerous encounters with police or armed citizens? What's going on?

I am making a complaint about censorship on Everyblock. I made an intelligent post opposing the worst forms of Rap music in the Chicago Public Schools and on Grammy and other awards shows. I advocating teaching our young people time tested standards of decency, promoting traditional education and positive music and culture.

Pretty much every successful adult I meet of all racial and ethnic groups agrees with these positions, and yet we are the ones who are censored, not the worst, most violent, hateful rap "Musicians".

This #*$&*# isn't even music as few rap "musicians" know how to play instruments or read music.

I'll support any Christian pastor, ex military veteran, grandmother from the South anybody that can step in and give our young people some positive direction in life - Catholic Nuns used to wash students mouths out with soap for using the vile language I hear in almost every single rap song - and this music seems to be infecting every part of society. When will it end? How long to the Bubonic plague in Europe last?
