Volunteer English (ESL) Literacy Tutors Needed!

Help adults learn English at Aquinas Literacy Center!
Volunteer as a one-on-one tutor for just 90 minutes a week at 1751 West 35th Street on the southwest side of Chicago. All tutoring is in English, so you don't have to speak another language to volunteer. Volunteer tutoring opportunities are 9am-8pm, Monday-Thursday.
Join us for our next tutor training workshop: Friday, January 26 (6pm to 9pm) and Saturday, January 27 (9am to 4pm). Attendance on both days is required to begin as a tutor. Police: Driver cited for improperly securing kids in crash that killed boy, 6, and injured 8-year-old

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Halsted Street, according to Deputy Fire Chief Michael Del Greco.

6-Year-Old Boy Killed After Driver Runs Red Light In Canaryville

The 31-year-old driver of a Ford Expedition was able to come to a stop and ran the red light about 4:30 p.m. at 47th Street and Halsted Street, colliding with a Chevy Equinox driven by a 61-year-old man, according to Chicago Police.

    CHICAGO - Two children were ejected from a vehicle and taken to a hospital after a car crash in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood. The crash happened Monday evening around 5 p.m. on 47th Street and Halsted Avenue. Two SUVs were involved. It was not clear which car the children were ejected from.

    CHICAGO -- Shots were fired in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, striking a woman in the chest. The woman was entering a home near 48th and Halsted around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a silver or gray sedan pulled up in front of the house.
