Firefighters partnered with the Chicago Police Department and a local JROTC group to retire American flags by burning them near 45th and Halsted streets. It is a long-standing tradition to burn to ashes flags that are beyond repair following a ceremony.

New City - Safe and Peaceful Communities

In May 2018 The Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities has awarded AWOFINC a 2018 grant, one of 132 rapid-response grants to support activities that promote safe and peaceful conditions in 19 prioritized Chicago communities. AWOFINC's Parent Information & Resouces, Violence Prevention Consortium and Youth Leadership & Development initiatives seek to identify and establish Community-Based Participatory Partnerships with groups and organizations. The consortium will be actively engaging multiple communities. Find out how you can participate in Leadership Training, Community Engagement, Violence Prevention initiatives as well as youth programs by contacting our office or send a message to any of our cooperating initiatives Facebook pages.
