Man shot in Brighton Park alley

About 8:37 p.m. Wednesday, the man was standing in an alley in the 4300 block of South Maplewood Avenue when an unknown male walked over and started shooting at him, hitting both of his legs, police said. An ambulance took the man to Stroger Hospital, where police said he was stable.

    A 39-year-old man was shot Wednesday evening in Chicago's Brighton Park neighborhood in the city's Southwest Side, police said. About 8:37 p.m. Wednesday, the man was standing in an alley in the 4300 block of South Maplewood Avenue when an unknown male walked over and started shooting at him, hitting both of his legs, police said.

Safe and Peaceful Communities - Gage Park

This week, the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities has awarded AWOFINC a 2018 grant, one of 132 rapid-response grants to support activities that promote safe and peaceful conditions in 19 prioritized Chicago communities. AWOFINC's Parent Information & Resouces, Violence Prevention Consortium and Youth Leadership & Development initiatives seek to identify and establish Community-Based Participatory Partnerships with groups and organizations. The consortium will be actively engaging multiple communities.
