Gray's nightmare began in March of 1993. Authorities accused the eighth grader of starting a fire at the home of a a girl who lived in the 4100-block of South Albany Avenue after he became angry with her for rejecting him.

Three firefighters were burned in a blaze that started before 12:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of West 42nd Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood, according to Chicago Fire. It was struck out later Saturday morning.

    A group of firefighters rushed inside the smoldering bakery when a gust of wind slammed the door closed behind them. Their fellow firefighters frantically tried to open the door, but the minutes ticked by while the acrid smell of the fire fell over the street, said Ruben Cruz, who watched the scene unfold early Saturday from his Southwest Side porch.
