#TBT Alderman George Cardenas Welcomes L.A. Fitness in 12th Ward Alderman George Cardenas attended the new L.A. Fitness, 2620 W. Pershing Road, grand opening on September 19, 2015. The Alderman and developer, Josh Levy, worked for three years to have the old CTA bus barn removed to install a new fitness and retail center. L.A. Fitness will be joined by Ross Dress for Less. The facility is state of the art with a swimming pool, spin class room, personal trainer section, daycare facility, sauna, TV screens on all elliptical machines, bikes and treadmills plus exercise classes throughout the day. Alderman Cardenas said,"The fitness and retail center was a priority to change the dynamics of the neighborhood including shopping and fitness conveniences. This center is connecting community residents to each other, health and having family fun. People as far as the South Loop to 26th and Kildare are meeting and becoming tighter neighbors. This is what we do in the 12th ward. We build together for a stronger today and tomorrow". The grand opening was attended by Alderman Ray Lopez and led by L.A. Fitness general manager Phil Avila. GM Avila welcomes everyone to register for three day passes to explore the amazing gym and it's incredible amenities.
