New City - Safe and Peaceful Communities

In May 2018 The Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities has awarded AWOFINC a 2018 grant, one of 132 rapid-response grants to support activities that promote safe and peaceful conditions in 19 prioritized Chicago communities. AWOFINC's Parent Information & Resouces, Violence Prevention Consortium and Youth Leadership & Development initiatives seek to identify and establish Community-Based Participatory Partnerships with groups and organizations. The consortium will be actively engaging multiple communities. Volunteer English (ESL) Literacy Tutors Needed!

Help adults learn English at Aquinas Literacy Center!
Volunteer as a one-on-one tutor for just 90 minutes a week at 1751 West 35th Street on the southwest side of Chicago. All tutoring is in English, so you don't have to speak another language to volunteer. Volunteer tutoring opportunities are 9am-8pm, Monday-Thursday.

Join us for our next tutor training workshop: Friday, April 27 (6pm to 9pm) and Saturday, April 28 (9am to 4pm). Attendance on both days is required to become a tutor. Please register in advance.     My students need this board game to learn how to stay debt free using the given income they are provided. They must learn how to budget by saving, giving, and spending based on their income.

    Ms. Spyer is asking for $453.91:
    My students need basic refills of materials used daily. These supplies are needed in the kindergarten to 2nd grade curriculum. From making masks from plaster cloth, making jewelry patterns, to printmaking line movement.
