FREE Water & Soil Lead Testing Events coming up April 16-21. DePaul University's Masters of Public Health Program and the Department of Environmental Science and Studies are co-hosting Lead Health Fairs as a part of the YMCA's annual Healthy Kids Day events. At the fair, community members can bring in samples of their soil and water to be tested for lead for free and they will be entered to win a $50 gift card and a Pur Water Filtering Pitcher. Plus DePaul health educators and scientists will be on site to talk with community members about lead, their environment, and to pass out resources on how to control exposure to lead. Free sampling kits and directions on how to collect the samples will be available for pick up at the front desks of each YMCA hosting a lead health fair. Community members are also encouraged to follow the instructions attached below to collect their own samples if they are unable to make it to a YMCA to pick up a kit. At the Lead Health Fairs, community members can then bring in their soil and water samples to be tested on the spot by DePaul University scientists.
