The property at 2065 S Indiana Avenue says it's in Douglas, but that area is more Prairie District / South Loop I believe? The unit at 606 E Woodland Park Avenue doesn't look like you get a whole lot (and I'm not familiar with the quality of that building) but that's a nice area. That unit puts you minutes from the 31st Beach and pier and you're steps from the brand new pedestrian bridge they built on 35th (taking you directly to the Lake). I'd say there's still a moderate amount of crime in the area (you sometimes hear of things happening in and around Lake Meadows), but all-in-all, that's relatively quiet area.

  • bikeable is better than walk-able. Too many crime incidents in the area

Scott Waguespack, City Council of Chicago add...

FREE Water & Soil Lead Testing Events coming up April 16-21. DePaul University's Masters of Public Health Program and the Department of Environmental Science and Studies are co-hosting Lead Health Fairs as a part of the YMCA's annual Healthy Kids Day events. At the fair, community members can bring in samples of their soil and water to be tested for lead for free and they will be entered to win a $50 gift card and a Pur Water Filtering Pitcher. Plus DePaul health educators and scientists will be on site to talk with community members about lead, their environment, and to pass out resources on how to control exposure to lead. Free sampling kits and directions on how to collect the samples will be available for pick up at the front desks of each YMCA hosting a lead health fair. Community members are also encouraged to follow the instructions attached below to collect their own samples if they are unable to make it to a YMCA to pick up a kit. At the Lead Health Fairs, community members can then bring in their soil and water samples to be tested on the spot by DePaul University scientists. The DIFFERENT locations and DIFFERENT times for the health fairs are below: Monday, April 16th - Rauner YMCA - 4-7pm (2700 S. Western) Wednesday, April 18th - Irving Park- 4-7pm (4251 W. Irving Pk) Wed, April 18th - McCormick YMCA 4-7pm (1834 N. Lawndale) Friday, April 20th - Lakeview 3-6pm (3333 N. Marshfield) Saturday, April 21st - South Side 9-12pm (6330 S. Stony Island) Saturday, April 21st - High Ridge 10-12pm (2424 W.Touhy) MORE DETAILS at https://mph345.wixsite.com/depaulmph/lead-health-fair

  • Here's a question for you Alderman. If lead is so bad for people, why does the city charge very high permit fees when you replace your lead service line? Shouldn't the city waive those fees? Seems that would be the moral thing to do.

Dog waste

Even with gentrification, many people leave their neatly bagged dog waste on the parkway. Why because there aren't garbage cans close to the open areas where many people walk their dogs.
Recently, we were around Chicago & Ogden admiring the architecture of a beautiful old Catholic church. The dogs were in the car. We drove around the corner and let them out for a breather when I had to go back to the car to get a bag to pick up our surprise. Then came the fun part, looking for a garbage can. Drove one stinky block to dispose. Yuk! Many people just go back to their condo, they're not carrying a bag of sh** back home
