Suggestions for Block of Land For Sale

Hi Neighbors. We noticed that there is a for sale sign at a parking lot on the 2100 Block of South Indiana (adjacent to The Lex and across from the Wintrust Arena). Our community needs a full grocery store and a pharmacy. Any suggestions regarding how we can encourage these types of businesses into our developing neighborhood?

    @Douglas_Peep,
    Yes, I was being a little cheeky about Ickes happening, but I have been attending meetings for years now and still not a shovel in the ground yet. Conversely, the new South Loop Elementary was approved long after the Ickes plans and that is going up at a furious pace. While I believe something will go up at Ickes, I think people and the politicians are ambivalent about it. It would not surprise me at all to see a reduction in the final number of public and affordable units.
    As for a casino, it baffles me that the city just watches people cross the border 12 miles from our neighborhood and contribute to the State of Indiana. I have little doubt campaign contributions flow from those connected to our city officials to kill such an idea. Given the history of Ickes, I doubt a casino would ever go in on that site.

  • Ickes still planned - go through some design iterations and approvals. Being multi jurisdictional entities and involving federal $$ takes time https://chicago.curbed.com/2017/2/6/14522750/chicago-ickes-homes-redevelopment-plan-public-housing

Criminal activity

Residents are not being notified of neighborhood criminal activity in a timely manner.
If residents and guests are not notified by the city or association management companies, the criminals are free to attack again until they are caught.
There must be a better notification system sent immediately once an attack is reported by a victim.

    How about this. Bring back the death penalty so people like this will not be getting out of jail. Instead be carry out of jail
    Also your words not mine.
    In a perfect world, not in Chicago. He'll sadly receive a slap on the wrist and be let back out sooner than you think.

  • This guy isn't going to receive a slap on the wrist, he killed a cop, it's game over for him this time. It's the slap on the wrists for his previous (non-homicide) violent crimes that need to be the focal here, and what judges let this filth back out on the streets before he finally hit the murder lottery. These liberal judges need to be publicly shamed and outed.

In one instance a proposed new location for the Jackson Bark would be near the Iowa Building, which is located near the intersection of South Everett Avenue and 56th Street, and another plan places the dog park near the Inner Harbor, 6400 S. Lake Shore Dr.
