Mrs. Porter is asking for $285.93:
My students need paper, pencils, and age appropriate journals to flourish as young authors. Keeping their writing in a journal will allow us to keep up with and track their products throughout the remainder of the school year.

Was going to get a slice of pizza .As I was walking past Steve's Bite, the food smelled great. They menu looked delicious, I tried the Gyro bowl & Chicken Bowl. I could not resist the taffy apple grapes. I was offered a sample of the chili, it was awesome. a great balance of spices. It was quite delicious, am i am super picky.
I enjoyed both entrees, the gyro & chicken was nicely seasoned , on a bed of rice & mixed salad , lightly drizzled vinagarette.
Overall Steve"s Bite is a wonderful change from the same old fast food cycle. You have got to try a meal, you will not be disappointed.

Good neighbor reminder: Snow Removal - Greater South Loop Association
Chicagoans are very fortunate to experience a winter that has it all - cold temps, biting wind chills, freezing rain, and of course, snow. And speaking of snow, now is a good time to remind everyone to clear their sidewalks after it snows.

Proposed High School Update: I would like to...

Proposed High School Update: I would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting Tuesday that took place at IIT. To recap, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) presented their transition plan including the preliminary boundaries of the new National Teachers Academy (NTA) High School. It was wonderful to see engaged parents and students come out and advocate for their schools. Many 11th Ward parents also attended the meeting to advocate for a quality neighborhood high school. I empathize with the NTA students, parents and staff and understand that this is a difficult situation. I hope that a meaningful resolution is achieved. I represent the residents of the 11th Ward and am advocating for a good quality neighborhood high school. The boundaries that were presented leave many of our residents without a good quality secondary education option. I am encouraging parents to attend the meeting next week Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00pm at Second Presbyterian Church located at 1936 South Michigan Ave. In connection with this issue, I am hosting a community meeting next Thursday, January 18th at 6:00 p.m. at the 9th District Police Station, 3120 S. Halsted St. to have an open dialogue about a secondary education option for 11th Ward residents.

  • Yeah, why would want to place someone who indicates "Either Party"... you might end up with an independent judge rather than a right-wing partisan hack who wants to intimidate voters...

Ald. Thompson: New high school a victory--but...

Ald. Thompson: New high school a victory--but community must make its voice heard on attendance boundaries CHICAGO (January 8, 2018)--Following is a statement from Ald. Patrick D. Thompson (11) regarding the announcement today from Chicago Public Schools about the new high school planned for the National Teachers Academy (NTA) building: “Since I began knocking on doors when I ran for alderman in 2014, I’ve heard over and over again that neighbors in our area want a new, good quality high school for residents of the 11th Ward and the Near South Side. I have heard loud and clear that this continues to be a major concern for our communities. As such, when I took office in 2015, I immediately began working with community organizations, CPS and local parents and educators on a plan for a new, quality high school option for the children of the 11th Ward. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish thus far. “Today’s announcement is a step in the right direction for quality secondary education. However, the preliminary proposed attendance boundaries of the new high school at National Teachers Academy (NTA) do not include all of our communities. There is still time for community residents to make their voices heard.I encourage students, parents, principals, teachers and local school council members from all of the schools in the 11th Ward to join me and attend the CPS public hearings on Tuesday, January 9th at 6:00 p.m. at IIT Hermann Hall, 3241 S. Federal Street and on Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 S. Michigan Avenue. “This is the opportunity for our communities to advocate for their interests and speak out about any concerns to ensure this plan accommodates all our residents. “I will continue to work with CPS and the Emanuel administration to ensure quality education opportunities for all of our residents in the 11th Ward. I am asking that all of our residents get engaged in this process as well by attending the upcoming community meetings.” ### http://cps.edu/News/Press_releases/Pages/PR1_01_08_2018.aspx
