Looking for a good honest plumber for Pilsen

Some friends of mine on 21st street are having a clogged toilet problem. Three-story house, it's a problem with the toilet on the second floor, only. Seems isolated to that stack. They need a good plumber, but obv. like everyone else, they're budget-minded folks.

Piano teacher?

Hi, I'm looking for a piano teacher for my five year old. Any recommendations? We have a piano, so we're able to have someone come to us, if needed. Thanks!

  • Merit School of Music is a good school. They may have or know of "at home" teachers. My goddaughter went there for 2 or 3 years. I haven't tried Chicago Academy Of Music on 17th, but they may have or know of resources. That's great that he's starting so young! Good luck. :)

  • Even though Old Town School of Folks Music is north, you could ask them if they have any teachers from or who travel to the Pilsen area.

  • These are great ideas, thank you! I also found a site, takelessons.com, where you can look within an area code and see reviews for a teacher, too. I'm going to check out the places you recommended, as well. Thank you!

Obnoxious Loudness in Pilsen

How can people in certain parts of Pilsen tolerate Banda music and drunkeness in the middle of the night? How? The is a total lack of regard for people who have wake up early. Moreover, if you call the police, you become a target for their animosity. Does anyone know how to silence these folks without becoming a target?

Pilsen Alliance not so innocent

The Pilsen Alliance isn't so innocent when it comes to race.

  • As a real estate professional ANYWHERE you can't "steer". Meaning you can't direct people to a neighborhood if the intention is good or bad.

As a real estate professional ANYWHERE you can't "steer". Meaning you can't direct people to a neighborhood if the intention is good or bad.
Example: You can't direct a Mexican family to Pilsen simply because they're Mexican and Pilsen presently has a high Mexican population.
The intention may be good but for a real estate agent, it's illegal even so.
I don't read any veiled meaning in these posts.
What the Pilsen Alliance is doing is directly "steering" and even worse.
They're singling out racial groups as enemies in their own neighborhood for the fact these people are not Mexican.
    Racism to a major degree.
They have not interest in harmony.
Their cause is self serving and delusional.

  • Ringo712 Block Captain

Looks to me there's alot of Indians and other Asian groups moving in as well. What they all have in common is green money. If you don't have money you can't choose were you live.
Pilsen Alliance are nothing but a bunch of jerks.

Xiu Xiu reimagine the eerie, gorgeous soundtrack of Twin Peaks

Sat 1/6, 8:30 PM, Thalia Hall, 1807 S. Allport, $25, $20 in advance, 17+

Xiu Xiu reimagine the eerie, gorgeous soundtrack of Twin Peaks
As groundbreaking and fascinating as the television show Twin Peaks was when it ran in the 90s (and was again during its recent resurrection), it's doubtful that the David Lynch-directed surrealistic murder drama would have reached its iconic status without its drop-dead-gorgeous soundtrack.

If you ask Knox Fortune, perhaps the least interesting item on his resume is winning a Grammy Award for his work on Chance the Rapper's "Coloring Book" album in 2016. But his brief brush with one of the music industry's crustiest institutions did produce a couple of funny/embarrassing anecdotes.
