1 Dead, at Least 12 Wounded in Sunday Shootings

According to police, the boy was standing in the 1800 block of South Komensky just after noon when another person walked up to him and opened fire, striking him in the face.

At least 12 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city Sunday. Just after 2 a.m., a 40-year-old man was found face-down with multiple gunshot wounds to his head, arms, and leg in the 6300 block of South King Drive, according to police.

Elsewhere in the city, a pair of men are in serious condition at Stroger Hospital after they were shot while riding in a vehicle in the 900 block of North Lorel at approximately 12:07 a.m., police said.

Less than an hour later, three men were standing near a residence in the 1500 block of South Kenneth when they were shot by a man wearing a black hoodie, according to police.

About noon police were called to the 1800 block of South Komensky Avenue on the West Side. Investigators aren’t yet certain, but they’re estimating the age of the victim as 16.

Youth & adults will create an outdoor sculpture in the peace park for posterity. Weekly art-making projects will take place to help people express themselves about their lives, their families, & about issues of violence. We will have gardening, community service, carpentry projects, cement projects, sign making, lots of art projects, & much more. Relax & enjoy nature with Urban Art Retreat.
