    I am very thankful to Jane Addams High School, from the moment I saw the flyer I knew that it was the school for my daughter. It is an awesome school and I am very happy that my daughter has the opportunity to finish high school. Thank you to all of the staff at JAHS for everything you do.

    I am very thankful to JAHS for believing in my daughter and allowing her to finish high school. From the moment I saw the flyer in a restaurant, I called, I knew that was a school for my daughter and she was enrolled the next day. I am so happy to say that my daughter goes to JAHS.

    The teachers help the students a whole lot. They are more involved in what they are teaching and more attentive to what the students need. My son made the Principal's List this year and I couldn't be prouder of his achievements.

    I like that all of the staff have discipline and enforce it equally throughout the school. All of the staff are on the same page and I am informed of everything my son does good or bad.

    I spent a year and a half at Rudy Lozano High School but didn't really learn much since the school was mostly filled with gang members and the teachers were not strict at all, so everybody could do anything they wanted in that school. I eventually transferred to Jane Addams High School (JAHS). At JAHS I've learned so much. I've learned how to be more organize, not only in school but my personal life too. I've learned how to be punctual to places I have to be at a certain time. I like everything about JAHS. My classes challenge me. Being at JAHS has been good because it prepared me for a better, more successful future.

Record Row ... NOT Motor Row

As more and more development and investment continues to flood the South Loop area, I can't help but wonder if anyone will discuss Record Row -- the TRUE identity of what everyone seems to want to brand "Motor Row."

"Record Row" is the more relevant history for this area of Chicago. If the powers that be were smart, the strip along Michigan near McCormick's new 'Entertainment District' should really become a cultural corridor for Chicago, celebrating the historical Jazz and Blues contributions that line that entire strip. Nashville has Broadway Street ... New Orleans has Bourbon Street .... why on earth doesn't Chicago have something similar????

    Record Row - Was produced by WTTW in Chicago (PBS) and aired in February 1997. I happened to tape it. Lost my tape a few months ago and then discoved that Record Row had disappeared from the earth more or less. Found one copy in a small college's library somewhere in the south but not available for loan.

    I feel once we are past the negative perceptions of the area and truly embrace the great history of Bronzeville we will be rewarded in ways that are innumerable, if and when the resources are put in the promotion of what happened here. As a people we have never excluded even as we were not included. What concerns me is that this should be on the front of the consideration of the tourism bureau's investment portfolio, lets consider this area as an asset and as something to present to the World for celebration.If you can have art festivals, rib festivals and so on in the North side neighborhoods, why not have these festivals in the Southside venues.

    I wasn t sure what to expect from JAHS but first impressions are always long lasting. When I first went on the JAHS website to find out more about the school, the mission statement of the school presented itself clearly, stating: Critical thinking. Personal Responsibility. Self-Sufficiency. Those words started cycling through my mind and I knew JAHS was the school for me. Now that I ve been at Jane Addams for a while, I learned that having a plan is the beginning of achieving a goal. I ve started thinking more about what I want to do post-secondary, and I ve been increasingly independent and self-motivated. Jane Addams provides no nonsense discipline and incentives that schools I ve been to don t have. Jane Addams is allowing me to graduate on time and to see that blessings in disguise are real.

    Jane Addams is one of the best schools I have attended during my high school career. Jane Addams has taught me that it is always important to be on time and it is always important to be able to do things for yourself without depending on anyone to do it for you. Overall I would recommend this school to a friend because it is the best school I have attended. The school overall always pushes us to be better. They push us to get ourselves together and be able to get things done regardless of what gets in our way. Jane Addams is a school that more people should know about because it can really impact your life and really push you to be your best self in and out of school.

    At JAHS the teachers are more involved in your learning. The school wants students to succeed and they focus on building you up to be ready for your success. The school shows discipline, and motivates you to understand that for every action, there is a consequence. One thing I especially liked about JAHS is the staff, they can be funny and the students are able to speak to them about issues and they always understand. They also want you to do your best with your abilities. The school really cares about your success and will not let anything hold you back.

Dog waste

Even with gentrification, many people leave their neatly bagged dog waste on the parkway. Why because there aren't garbage cans close to the open areas where many people walk their dogs.
Recently, we were around Chicago & Ogden admiring the architecture of a beautiful old Catholic church. The dogs were in the car. We drove around the corner and let them out for a breather when I had to go back to the car to get a bag to pick up our surprise. Then came the fun part, looking for a garbage can. Drove one stinky block to dispose. Yuk! Many people just go back to their condo, they're not carrying a bag of sh** back home

Anyone else hear this? Five shots were fired between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. today...first one shot and then four more in succession. I;m pretty sure this occurred during a domestic situation.
